Waiting For A New Single To Drop As Told By Demi Lovato

There's nothing more exciting than your favorite artist releasing a new song. From the second they announce they're dropping a new single to the moments before the official release, your emotions are absolutely everywhere. This summer has seen some fantastic new material. Kesha released her first song in four years on July 6th, and it is fantastic. Seriously, go listen to it if you haven't already. On July 11th, Demi Lovato is releasing a new single, Sorry Not Sorry, and Selena Gomez has announced her latest single, Fetish, that doesn't have an official release date. Suffice to say, I'm pretty freaking excited right now. Those are just a couple of songs I'm looking forward to, and I bet you have waited eagerly for new material as well. Since she is one of my favorite artists of all time, here are the stages of waiting for a new single to drop, as told by Demi Lovato.

1. Your favorite artist has been quiet for a while, when suddenly...

Bam! Out of nowhere they post on their Instagram or Twitter, teasing a special announcement coming soon. You don't know what it is for sure, but you can guess...

2. A new song is CONFIRMED

Rumors have been flying, but you get the official news straight from the artist. This is not a drill, I repeat, this is not a drill!

3. You find other fans because you're all collectively freaking out on social media and irl

Nothing brings people together like mutual anticipation.

4. You're just happy all the time

Suddenly the week doesn't seem as bad because you know you get a new song in a few days. Your Monday Blues has been temporarily alleviated.

5. Waiting takes forever

Even though you're happy and excited, it feels like you have to wait years, so to pass the time...

6. You discuss the artist's previous work with other fans

and try to figure out what direction they're going to go with the new song. With all the possibilities laid out in front of you, it is only natural to...

7. Prepare for the worst case scenario

What if you don't absolutely LOVE this song? What if it totally sucks? It happens, but one song won't ruin the rest of their music. Besides, it is good for artists to explore, even if it doesn't turn out perfect.

8. The release date is so close, you can almost reach out and touch it

At this point, you want the waiting to be over already. What do we want? New music! When do we want it? Now!

9. Finally, it's time for the midnight freak out

If you're a huge fan, you're probably awake at 11:59 PM the night before, ready to instantly download the musical genius your favorite artist has created.

10. The clock strikes twelve; you hit play...

and you basically have a euphoria-induced heart attack.

11. The song is FABULOUS

Now it's time to play it on an endless loop and go through this entire cycle all over again. The wait is totally worth it.

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."
