Waiting on God's timing

Lamentations 3:25-26

The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord

What if everything you ever wanted came true as soon as you wished for it? I want a million dollars. Bam, you had a million dollars. I want to be done with school, forever. Bam, done with school. I want to finally meet my husband/wife. Bam, they show up. As cool as this is all sounds realistically, it wouldn't be enjoyable.

We get so caught up in our destination we forget to enjoy the pathway we get to have on the way. We take for granted all we get to learn and experience while we work towards our final outcome. For instance, you might go to a small group and make a great new best friend, although you were hoping to meet your future spouse. In an attempt to show your cool kid side on social media you get to go skydiving! While finishing boatloads of school work school you have many beautiful late-night conversations and midnight trips to Walmart. Imagine everything we would miss out on if we only ever got what we wanted and never the experiences that come with getting those final outcomes.

There are so many reasons God has invented waiting. Things don't always happen when we want them to if it did life would be so boring. We also wouldn't take the time to pray and hope and fall to our knees in front of a God who answers all of our prayers. The waiting process is more than half the fun and grows us into a more deep and meaningful walk with Him.

Also, when I think about all the things I have ever wanted, I am so glad that certain things never did happen. The process that comes with waiting can sometimes show us that what we thought we wanted was something never intended for us. I'd rather learn through the process then after the outcome. God knows me so much better than I know myself which always becomes more prevalent during my times of waiting throughout my life. After all, in the end, if we follow His leading we will be so much more fulfilled with what He wants for us then we would be by following our own selfish desires.

So in the end, even though it sucks sometimes, we should see our waiting as a way to grow stronger in our faith, gain patience, enjoy the little things, and gain memories and stories we can share in the future. I promise you, waiting on God and life will always be worth it in the end. So, take a deep breath, close your eyes, and enjoy this season of waiting.

Ecclesiastes 3:11

He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart, yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
