14 Struggles For Those Who Are Waiting for Summer

In the middle of February I am sitting outside writing this article in a jean jacket and leggings. But as beautiful as it is out with the sun shining and everyone on campus is taking advantage of the nice weather, we all know that this won't last. Because beginning of the week it will return to below freezing whether and almost unbearable wind chills. For me personally, since now all the major winter holidays are over, and we just went through a "snow storm" already, I can proudly say I am over the heavy jackets and stuffy noses, and ready for warmer weather! The bigger issue is that summer is still over a two month wait. So until then, we can just have Parks and Recreation to relate to the struggles of those like me who would do anything to be laying on a beach right now, and not walking outside anymore into the bitter cold.

1. You suffer extremely from the winter blues

2. Seeing all the spring and summer clothes at the mall

3. When you give in and buy them, however, you still have to hang it in your closet for a couple more months.

4. So you just go back to the lazy winter wardrobe, losing all motivation to look cute.

5. The warm days that tease you that you can wear those clothes, but they backfire once the sun starts to set from being on campus all day.

6. Then there are the days where it's freezinnnggg in the morning, but by 12PM you just want to start ripping off your clothes.

7. When you still to your ice coffee 365 days a year, but your hand freezes from walking to class with it.

8. When you get sick and the only curable thing that can fix you is warm weather

9. You know you have to start working out to get rid of the winter weight but the cold weather makes you way less motivated

10. But then you know you have to after watching all the HGTV specials about tropical island homes and vacations

11. Getting slammed with midterm exams, and papers when you know this shit doesn't happen during summer break.

12. ...And Having professors during the spring semester who turn on the AC when it's negative -2 degrees outside

13. The excitement you get when leaves start growing back on the trees

14. Counting down the days where you're not experiencing the struggle of adventuring back to your car, dorm, or restaurant when it's either snowing, or high freezing winds.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
