"Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations." -Deuteronomy 7:9
Everyone struggles with patience, whether you believe it or not, we all have a hard time waiting once in a while. We get anxious in long lines, we complain when summer won't come faster, and we always want time to pass. Everyone has an aspect in their life where they are impatient.
God talks a lot in his word about patience and the importances of having that characteristic.
1. "Love is patient, love is kind." (1 Corinthians 13:4)
2. "Whoever is patient has great understanding, but one who is quick-tempered displays folly." (Proverbs 14:29)
3. "Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer." (Romans 12:12)
4. "Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love." (Ephesians 4:2)
5. "But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently." (Romans 8:25)
God has a plan for everyone. He knows what college you will go to, what job you will have, who you will marry, how many kids you will have, how many grandkids you will have, and more than you will ever imagine. He is an all-knowing God. He has a beautiful plan for your life, but it is your choice if you follow that plan. Some people choose to ignore God and the foundation He has set for their life, and their life isn't filled with the happiness and love that the life God wants for you is full of. All life without God is a life of darkness, but a life with God is a life filled with a bright light.
Honestly, I struggle with waiting for God's plan to come in to play, just like everyone does from time to time. I ask God all the time "why?" Why am I single? Why is everyone in a relationship but me? Why is my life going in this direction? But He always answers with "be patient." That is my encouragement. God has a perfect plan for my life, and I need to patiently wait for His will for my life. I am not living for this world, I am living for Him.
