“Indeed, none who wait for you shall be put to shame;” - Psalms 25:3a (ESV)
I was working on my first article to post on The Odyssey and my wheels started turning on a different topic; similar yet, totally different.
The impatience of our society in this day and time hit me like a ton of bricks as I was working on For the Ones Who Decide to Wait. It's a simple fact yet, so complicated... People DO NOT want (or like) to wait. In our world today, everyone wants everything handed to him or her, right then and there. That's why we all love fast food restaurants and microwaves and that's why turnover rates at most jobs are climbing higher and higher as the days go by. As I was pondering different things in regards to waiting, it hit me in a new way and I realized that waiting is a part of what God created us for.
In my mind, it is crazy to think that the God who created everything in six days and who is beyond time as we know it, would want us to wait! It brings a new light to so many scriptures by taking on that thought process. And in case you're wondering what I mean exactly, here's where I am: we’ve been waiting for Christ to return for over 2,000 years... before that, the Israelites waited for thousands of years for their Messiah. WAITING. It's part of our DNA... it's part of what God created us for. Maybe you've always known that and perhaps I did too but it just sank in for me.
Abraham waited for his promise. Joseph waited for his dreams to come true. Job was patient through GREAT trial. Paul waited to receive his reward. Everyone is waiting for something; whether you know it or not. His plans are higher than ours and if He has you waiting today, just remember that you are in good company! Waiting is a part of our faith!
“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” - Galatians 6:9 (ESV)
