How Waffles And Spaghetti Resemble The Male And Female Brain

What do waffles and spaghetti have in common? If you pose this question, then you should ask, how do male and females relate? Waffles are firm, with symmetrical lines, while spaghetti is long attached noodles. Clearly anyone can make such observations. The waffle, with it's symmetrical shape, closely resembles how men tend to think logically and systematically. Spaghetti, on the other hand, resembles how women tend to attach to each emotion and to each situation making some type of connection.

With texting being our generation's number one form of communication, many girls often over analyze every text at its precise time, exact punctuation, or even the exact words that have been sent. This can be explained by the way women tend to think. On the contrary, males do not exactly put in the same thought process as females, where they see only the black and white of life rather than attaching the gray areas in between. Males do not have a complex way of thinking like that of females.

Studies have shown how the brain of males and females are used significantly differently than one another. The male brain is about ten times larger than female brains, but contrary to size, this does not mean men are smarter than women. The size can be attributed to the larger body mass and muscle groups in men. The reason men tend to think more analytically is due to the fact they rely sharply on the left side of their brain, whereas women have more of a balance between the right and left side of their brain. This can be translated to why women are considered to be better communicators and more intuitive. Men have more troubles picking up on emotional cues. For instance, say a couple is having an argument and the female is trying to send subtle hints about why she may be upset, but it is more likely for the male to not pick up on these signals until she comes out and specifically says it.

Since women use a balance between both sides of their brain, it can lead to women excelling in language-based tasks. On the other hand, men have an easier time with mathematic skills and geography skills. When a female is asked for directions to a certain place, they are more likely to describe it with landmarks leading up to the destination or around it, and men are the complete opposite when asked for directions. They will often tell you how to get there by specific street names or highway markers.

Even though such studies have highlighted how the opposite sex brain differs, it is not always the case, and men and women often have a lot in common upstairs. Yet with these differences, men and women can complement each other if the other picks up where the other lacks rather than just pointing their shortcomings out.

Next time you look at a spaghetti noodle, consider it a way that women attach all their emotions with actions or situations leading up to that moment. For example, the time Tommy never answered the last text Maria sent him, and then the next day he never mentioned anything about the shirt Maria was wearing because it was supposed to be his favorite color, which made Maria think he didn’t like her. In reality, Tommy may have forgotten to answer the text or just didn’t like the shirt or pay any attention to it. The way men sometimes think can be more simplistic than the way women tend to think.

Before you sit down to eat your waffle, take into account it is not just food, but rather the systematic set-up of a male's brain. Don’t over think it, but remember for the next Math exam to befriend a guy in your class, and they might surprisingly be a great study partner.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
