VSCO Is Above All Other Social Media Because It Shows The Beauty In Simplicity

If Odyssey is my way of telling you what I care about, VSCO is my way of showing it.

I love Instagram, Snapchat, and Twitter, but above all, VSCO rocks my world. I always get excited when I follow someone new on Instagram and see that they have a VSCO link in their profile. Because to me, VSCO is like a glimpse into someone's soul.

Rather than posting just the most picture-perfect images like Instagram, people post the most meaningful images. Whether it's a text that made their day, their new tattoo, or the book they're currently reading, it provides a unique way to get to know someone better.

If Odyssey is my way of telling you what I care about, VSCO is my way of showing it.

VSCO is a creative outlet for individuals because unlike Instagram, you post what you want without attention to “likes.” While it’s nice to use Instagram for the “buzz” of getting likes and compliments, using a platform that won’t generate a lot of feedback from others is just as important.

If you want to post things on your VSCO that are meaningful, it should be enough that you feel good about what you put out there. If someone is touched enough by what you posted to compliment you on it, it’s a bonus.

VSCO is perfect for a free spirit because you aren’t obligated to spread your pictures out or post them at any certain time.

You can go a while without feeling the inspiration to post something, but then decide to post 10 pictures in a row because you were feeling it. In that way, it feels more authentic than other forms of social media.

VSCO celebrates simplicity. It celebrates a cup of black coffee in the morning, a candle burning next to the bathtub, and freckles in the summertime.

Not every day has to be a party or looking perfect for formal, as depicted on Instagram. While parties can be fun, never taking the time to check in with yourself outside of all the social events you post on Instagram can make you lose sight of what’s really on your mind.

I love scrolling on VSCO and seeing a seemingly simple thing, like a book of poetry. Seeing said poetry book will remind me that I love poetry. Also, if I were to strike up a conversation with that person, poetry would be something to talk about! It’s always a good way to remember things you need to buy for yourself if you see them on other people’s feeds.

I am happy that a creative platform like VSCO exists and I'm excited to see how it changes going forward. VSCO, thank you for showing me the beauty in simplicity.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
