I'm Voting For Hillary, But I Don't Want To

One person's perspective of the disaster that is the 2016 Election.

I'm Voting For Hillary, But I Don't Want To
USA Today

My name is Cassidy. I am a female. I am 20 years old. This is the first year I get to vote for the next President of the United States and my choices are between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.

You can imagine my disappointment. Months ago I was laughing at the idea that Donald Trump was running for President. I thought it had to be a joke. It wasn't. Not only does he have zero political experience, but he has a well-known history of being inappropriate and making poor money-related decisions. There have been rumors that he cheated on his wife for years, many of his companies have gone bankrupt, and he never served in the military. What does it take for America to realize he is not qualified to be President/Commander-in-Chief of the United States?

So from the very beginning, I knew I would never vote for him. His lack of experience and atrocious demeanor made him not an option for me. But as time went on, my options dwindled and now I am stuck with Hillary. The woman who stayed with her cheating husband, who is the epitome of a hypocrite, who deleted thousands-upon-thousands of emails containing confidential information, who is rumored to have played a role in the killing of four Americans in Benghazi, Libya. As I research about these candidates, I am more and more tempted to skip voting altogether and move to another country. I cannot understand how it has come down to these two, out of the millions of American citizens, of which thousands would be either more respectable or more equipped (if not both) to be our President.

But that point has passed. My options are between Hillary and Donald. While I loathe the idea of either of them running this nation, my vote is going to Hillary. Even though my brain, heart, gut and every other organ of my body is telling me not to, I am. I can't help but ponder the fact that if she wins, it will be apart of history. She will be the first ever woman who is nominated as President of the United States. Every word, every decision she makes will be documented and it will be taught to future generations. She will determine if another female will ever be nominated for President.

I'm writing this article as a woman, an American citizen, a college student. I'm not familiar with politics, but I know what my research has taught me, and that is that neither of these candidates deserve to run this amazing country, and We The People should not have let it come to this.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
