I Voted For The First Time

And it was exciting!

I Voted For The First Time
Clay Bennett

I am currently writing this while keeping up with who is in the lead. It's currently back and forth between Trump and Clinton. So, when this article gets published, there will already be a winner and we will have ourselves a new president. No matter what the outcome is... I am just excited for my first time being able to vote.

Being able to have my voice heard is a wonderful right to be able to have in this country. Although this election has been interesting to witness thus far and although not a fan of all of the candidates, I still cast my vote for who I felt would best lead. It was exciting to be able to go and cast my ballot for the very first time! I was a bit confused at first and I'm sure the people at the voting area were not pleased with me taking forever, but I can at least say I did my civic duty.

Being a part of a democracy is empowering where I can have the chance to be a part of the outcome. This is the election I have paid the most attention to and have kept up with all of the details happening. It's honestly been a mess... With constant fighting between both sides who created divisions upon them and the people who stand behind them. It has been horrendous to just witness. And I'm just sitting here all giddy like because I have my very first sticker to say I voted! I understand that the feeling will wear off once a winner is announced, but every one has to have a first time for everything. I was ecstatic that this election could be my first time to exercise my right to vote.

I realize that my one little vote won't make much of a difference, but I can at least try, right? I voted for the first time and I couldn't be more excited about it!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
