Vote Pro-Life?

How can I vote life first if there are no pro-life candidates?

Vote Pro-Life?

With only 70 days until the election, our two main presidential candidates are doing everything they can to elicit votes. There are a few reasons I can see myself voting for both candidates, but a million reasons why I do not want to see either of them in office. With all this confusion, I am trying to tell myself, "Just vote pro-life." Making America pro-life again is a huge dream of mine, so it should only seem right that I vote for the candidate who supports my dream.

However, there are no pro-life candidates. Really.

First we have Donald Trump. He claims to be our real pro-life candidate. He says that he does not believe in abortion and promises to install a pro-life judge. His promise is amazing, actually. It would be so much easier for pro-life legislation to pass and court cases to be won if we had Donald Trump on our side.

But on the other hand, Donald Trump is a huge supporter of the death penalty. Studies have been done to prove that capital punishment is not a deterrent, but Trump has vocalized that he does not care about the studies. In conclusion, while Trump seems to be the only pro-life candidate, he still does not stand behind the entire pro-life movement.

Second, we have Hillary Clinton. The Democratic Party, as a whole, announced that they would try and bring an end to the cruel punishment of the death penalty. But Hillary does not agree with them. She would like to keep it around as an option for certain cases.

Hillary Clinton is also a supporter of abortion and intends on forcing all of America to stand behind her. As of right now, there is a policy that allows the federal government to pay for certain abortion cases, including those pregnancies from rape, incest, and cases when the mother’s life is at risk if she continues carrying the baby. Under Hillary, this policy would be shut down and tax money would be used as funding. All of America would be paying for these abortions, including pro-life citizens, who obviously do not think they are morally correct.

We have two other candidates, too. Gary Johnson, Libertarian, and Jill Stein of the Green Party. Both candidates are anti-capital punishment but pro-abortion.

I know there are more pro-life topics that could be examined, but abortion and the death penalty are two of the most controversial ones and I chose to focus on them.

Now, I still do not know who to vote for. The politicians have gone so far, taking extreme positions and changing what they believe at heart just for the support of voters. In the process, they have created a huge group of confused people, left to vote for someone that they don’t even really want to win.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Kourtney Kardashian

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
