This summer, Metallica will be hitting the road on their WorldWired tour in North America. The band had released their most recent album, "Hardwired...To Self-Destruct" was released in 2016 and includes the hits "Moth Into Flame" and "Hardwired". Metallica has invited some other awesome bands to join them on tour including Avenged Sevenfold, Volbeat and Gojira. However, there are five dates where only one of these bands will be joining them on stage. These dates / locations include:

May 19 – Foxborough, MA – Gillette Stadium (also with Volbeat)

June 4 – St. Louis, MO – Busch Stadium (also with Volbeat)

June 14 – San Antonio, TX – Alamodome (also with Avenged Sevenfold)

June 16 – Dallas, TX – AT&T Stadium (also with Avenged Sevenfold)

June 18 – Chicago, IL – Soldier Field (also with Avenged Sevenfold)

Metallica is allowing their fans to choose from a list of eight bands and vote for the one they would like to see take the stage on those five dates. Bands that have been selected include Immortal Guardian, Hallow Point, Shattered Sun and Mothership. One of the eight bands selected to potentially play on these five dates is the 90's alternative rock band, Local H.

I have been a fan of Local H since my middle school years. They're raw, loud, honest and really fun to listen to. If you're a fan of bands like Filter, Nirvana or Mudhoney, you should totally give them a listen! The band's most popular single, "Bound To The Floor" was featured in an episode of Daria and the 2006 film Big Nothing.

Their songs "Eddie Vedder" and "Fritz's Corner" additionally made Top 40 on the Alternative and Mainstream Rock Billboard Charts in the 1990's. The cover art for their 1996 album As Good As Dead was even featured in an episode of Friends!

Local H formed in 1987 and has released ten studio albums since 1995, two of them include cover albums. Any Misfits fans out there? Here's the band's amazing cover of the Misfit's classic song "Last Caress":

I've had the honor to meet the band's lead singer, Scott Lucas, twice. He's extremely talented, intelligent and knows how to put on a great show! I really believe they would be an amazing addition to the tour. You can make it happen! Head on over to Metallica's website and give the band a vote! Follow this link: https://metallica.com/blog/news/444602/hit-the-sta... and select Local H! The deadline to vote is on April 25th at 5:00 PM. The winning band will be announced on the 26th. With your help, Local H will become a part of this kickass tour!

If you miss the deadline, but are still interested in attending a Local H show, they will be touring in the U.S from April 21st to August 4th! Click on the link to see if Local H will be playing in your city this summer: http://www.localh.com/tour.html

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
