Vote For God

Give authority the respect they deserve... even if it's Trump or Hillary

Vote For God

Don't vote for Trump! Don't vote for Hillary! I won't vote for anyone, this country is DOOMED! It is really hard to have respect for someone whom you do not respect or trust, this is the case in many every day situations. Many employees do not have respect for their employers, sometimes people do not care for their leaders, etc. What if God played a part in putting them where they were?

I just had a Bible study on Romans 13. This chapter is all about respect for authority and the people who are in power above us.

It says in verse 2 that if we rebel against authority, then we are really rebelling against God. We cannot love God and hate our leader, it would be an oxymoron because God has commanded us to love our neighbor, and love those in charge (not in a weird way).

In the Bible, David had to be under King Saul (who tried to kill him) until Saul died. He respected Saul and did not kill him even though others told him to. In the New Testament, Jesus could have easily killed Pilot or Caesar, but he did not and went willingly to the cross. There are so many other examples of leaders that were not so great but people followed them anyway because God had placed them in high places, either to be taught a lesson or to make something happen.

Let's put it this way, do you think that God loves Trump? Hillary? Obama? Do you think that he created them to do great works which he prepared before hand (Ephesians 2:10)? Do you think that he is putting them (or put them) in places such as these so that he can teach us through them?

All of these answers are:

Absolutely. He loves the people in those leadership positions just like he loves us. He definitely created them and he wants to teach us lessons in the process.

How can we know who is good for us? How can we know what will become of their presidentship? IT DOESN'T MATTER! Our first job is to worship and obey God. That's it. He is our ruler, he is the only king, and we should not worry about what is going on in the world, we should worry about if we are pleasing the one true ruler.

Keep in mind that the rulers of today do not own us. God is in control, all the time, and he knows how these leaders will impact our lives.

Romans 13:7 says, "Give to them what you owe them: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor. The people in authority have worked hard to get to the places that they are, we owe them some honor and respect.

The bottom line is that God is in control, he is the ruler and he knows what we, as a nation, shall learn from the next ruler. We cannot vote for God, but we can give God the respect and honor.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
