New Orleans is known for the great food, music, and art, and Voodoo Fest 2017 is willing to offer you in a whole new way. This music festival will be held on October 27-29, right around Halloween, in the historic New Orleans, LA. Here are a few reasons you may want to attend this three-day festival this fall:

1. The lineup: Voodoo released the lineup at the beginning of June and it is packed full of awesome performers. With artists like Kendrick Lamar and DJ Snake, who could resist purchasing a ticket?

2. The price: The cost to attend 3 full days of entertainment is only $99. With this price you cannot help but make your way down to New Orleans, it truly is a bargain.

3. The costumes: Because this festival is right before Halloween, you can expect festival goers to arrive decked out for the occasion. The only thing you have to worry about packing is your three most outrageous Halloween costumes. In New Orleans, anything goes.

4. The food: From watermelon salad, tacos, po-boys, and burgers you can experience the ultimate lineup of creole cuisine at Voodoo Fest. You can also venture to local restaurants right off of the festival's grounds.

5. The art: Voodoo invites local artists to come and display large pieces of interactive artwork throughout the grounds. They even have a marketplace where local artists set up booths for festival goers to immerse themselves in the raw artistry New Orleans has to offer.

6. The activities: Between sets, you can enjoy the ferris wheel, music lounges, and sponsor's interactive exhibits. You probably don't want to miss anyone that is performing, but if you need a rest Voodoo has an overflow of things to do.

If you are a fan of festivals and have yet to experience Voodoo Fest you may want to get your ticket now! With options like shuttles, single day entry, and VIP tickets, this may be one of the best festivals yet. Experience the "musical gumbo" that Voodoo Fest 2017 has to offer down in New Orleans this fall.

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.
