If you're staying in town this summer, need something to do or even need some community service points for your next date party? Then take a look at some of the places around town that are openly seeking volunteers.
If you aren't feeling like spreading some love, go check out the music video for God's Plan.
1. Children's Hands-On Museum
Head over to their website to fill out a volunteer application then start getting some hand on volunteer experience. Help set up birthdays and events while getting to know some cute minds. Great resume builder for education or childhood development majors.
2. Tuscaloosa Metro Animal Shelter
I mean come on, who wouldn't wanna hang with these guys? Apply to be an actual volunteer or spend a few hours of your day "renting" a puppy. Help get them out of their cage while you get some puppy love.
3. Boys and Girls Club of West Alabama
Volunteer your time at an event or become a mentor and make a difference in the lives of Tuscaloosa youth.
4. Habitat for Humanity
Be like Saban and the team and help Habitat for Humanity do some good around the community. This organization played a huge role in restoring the community after the Tornados of 2011.
5. Rise Center
Spend some time right on campus helping these cuties learn developmental skills. Great way for child development or education majors to boost that resume and do some good.
6. Serve Day
Join Church of the Highlands and others during the first Saturday of every month where groups go around making a difference in the community.
7. Community Soup Bowl
Take some time to volunteer at the Community Soup Bowl, easy labor that will leave you feeling good and making a difference.
It's more than just feeling good about yourself and boosting your resume. The feeling of getting out of bed as opposed to watching Housewives all day is like no other. So next time you get yourself out of bed, add some meaning.
