When going to a school that is filled with engineers, it can be easy to feel inferior studying a major in the Liberal Arts College. You are guaranteed to come across those people who will tell you that "you won't make a lot of money once you graduate" and that "what you're studying isn't important."

Don't listen to them! Here are some reasons to major in Multimedia Journalism at Virginia Tech.

Odds are you are going to love what you are doing.

A lot of people choose Engineering or other STEM majors because of the money they'll make after they graduate. Contrary to popular belief, it is possible to do something you're passionate about and make a career out of it.

Virginia Tech has great opportunities for Multimedia Journalists.

Whether you want to pursue print, broadcast, or photojournalism. Virginia Tech has an organization for everyone. There is VTTV for broadcast journalism and the Collegiate Times for print and photojournalism, amongst many more organizations.

There are amazing study abroad opportunities.

Switzerland is one of the most popular destinations amongst the Communications Department. If Switzerland isn't your top choice, there are also exchange programs available.

The job opportunities are endless.

Graduates often get jobs as news anchors, writers, producers, and go as far as to work for Disney. One of the more well-known graduates is Hoda Kotb, who is a co-anchor on the Today Show!

You will make long-lasting friends who have the same career interests and passion as you.

You will often run into people who are not only in the same classes as you but also in the same organizations.

Virginia Tech is a great networking hub!

Hoda Kotb, from the Today Show, is one of the more popular alumni, but there are plenty of people that students can connect with. Students can connect with professionals from ESPN if there in sports journalism or they can work with people on Capitol Hill if they are interested in politics.
