The recent events that are happening in our country leaves me speechless. Police brutality is an issue that arose lately in our society and things are becoming worse and worse. I hear around me "Black Lives Matter, Black Lives Matter," to which I say all lives matter. Whether you are black, yellow, white—you are a human being. The color of the skin is not what determines you.
We are in 2016 and I cannot believe that in the U.S., a country that is made by so much diversity, there are people who feel discriminated because of their skin color. I cannot understand that there are mothers and fathers who fear for their children when they leave the house. They are wondering if their child is coming back home and this fear is related simply to a skin color. I cannot understand that the United States of America is becoming more and more divided because of a race issue. We have faced this in the past during segregation, but that time is over.
This is the United States of America, we need to be united. As President Obama said, this is not only a black issue, it is an American issue. Nobody should fear the police. Their job is to protect us and to fight for us, not to kill us. It is time that all Americans be held by the same standards and laws. The system is the system and there should be no exception.
When I see the protests, when I see the anger of people asking for justice, I see one color—the color of justice. In these marches, we have a diversity of people and this is a testimony that all lives matter; that when America faces adversity, all Americans stand together for justice.
When coming back home last night on the train, I heard a black woman yelling, "black people are tired." I heard her saying that there will be a civil war. I was shocked. I could see the anger in her, but at the same time, violence will not solve this issue.
We need to speak with positivity over this country, over our families, over everyone. We need to pray for those who lost their lives, for the families that lost a child, a son, a husband or a relative in this chaos.
No more unjustified shooting; no more violence; only justice. Justice for all human beings from all walks of lives.
Remember, this is the United States of America. There is no color, only human beings who need to stand together to make the society better, to make anyone feel safe and to establish social justice.
