On March 31, 2019, Grammy-nominated rapper Nipsey Hussle was pronounced dead after being fatally shot in front of his Los Angeles based Marathon Clothing store.
This event has caused pain and suffering to millions of people and communities, not to leave out his surviving loved ones. While there haven't been any official statements made by his longtime girlfriend and love, actress Lauren London, the world can only imagine the hurt she and Nipsey's children are experiencing right now.
Hussle, whose real name was Ermias Ashgedom, was shot multiple times around 3:25 p.m. He received gunshots to the head and torso before being pronounced dead by the end of the day.
Although there are many people who are not a fan of his music, he was much more than a rapper. He worked hard every day to try and discover solutions to gang violence, create jobs for low-income communities, inspires children and youth, and much more. That is the lasting legacy he has left behind.
Besides the sadness of death in general, many are angry at the fact that someone had the audacity to shoot him in front of his own store and neighborhood. He created things like his Marathon clothing store to try and uplift the community, and yet he was gunned down right in front of it.
Many celebrities have been coming out with their experiences and thoughts on Nipsey's wonderful spirit and the situation itself.
Although a suspect is remained at large, many believe the murder was related to gang violence or connected to his documentary about Dr. Sebi, that he was planning to create. Dr. Sebi was an herbalist who allegedly came up with a cure for AIDS. Before his findings were actually able to reach the public, he died. In recent news, following Hussle's death, popular television host and rapper Nick Cannon has hinted at finishing the project for him.
Nipsey's murder could remain a mystery, similar to former California rapper Tupac Shakur. Hopefully, it doesn't have to be that way, and he can have justice and peace. Hopefully, the black community can get together and support each other through the loss of such a gifted black man!
Hussle once said, "The highest human act is to inspire". To his memory. #RIPNipHussle
