Poems on Self Love

Views Inside

The easiest visualization of unconditional love is the love a parent has for their child. There is nothing that a child can do that will deter the love of their parent.

Self-love should also mimic this unconditional love.

No love will ever be a direct path to self-acceptance. It's important to remember that loving yourself is a life-long journey with ever-changing identities. There have been many days where I think I’m amazing, creative, beautiful, intelligent. There have also been equally as many days that I feel the opposite way about myself. I would have to ignore the complexities of possessing a identity if I were to say that on those critical days I somehow “love myself less.” I do not love myself any less on those days. I am just more aware of my flaws and if I accept those flaws then I can be a stronger me. This week I’ll share words from my memoir. The poems in this collection focus on identity and self-acceptance.

An Ode to the Color of My Own Eyes

Your eyes shine like the last bit of daylight into the cracks of my soul awakening me
Breathe life into me every morning till the day I die
Without you how can I survive?
I’ve neglected you for far too long
You are my only one

The Main Character, Publisher, Editor of 'My Life'

The truth is: I steal hairpins and drink other people’s tea
I borrow shampoo without asking

There is so much wrong with me.
I feel strongly that life is meaningless

There is no meaning
Only what we make
Only what we take away

I am a speck on a ball of dust orbiting a flaming pit in space

Forms of Sunlight

It’ll get better one of these days, girl
Just keep your shoulders squared
Just feel the wind in your hair
Only fake a smile, when you must

Trust no one.
Not even your self...

Rely on your own two hands

Repay all your debts.

It’s going to get easier one of these days, girl

Don’t wait on a prince
Disappointment Imminent

Clap for yourself, girl

Flow where you WILL!
Cherish yourself, girl

You only have one you...

Speech from a Dream: Bottle of Sauvignon Blanc

Him: Would you say you’re in love Ms. Parker?
Me: Yes
Him: Oh, then with who?
Me: I’d say I’m in love with watching the sunrise
And the sunset
I'm in love with Running, putting foot to pavement
I'm in love with Hurting, thought I shouldn't be

I’d say, that I’m in love with a few smiles
And at least three sets of eyes

I’m in love with the turn of the earth
In love with long walks to anywhere
The feel of a car in motion without any destination in mind

I’m in love with experiences
I’ll try anything once

I’m in love with everyone

That makes living hard, because not everyone is in love with me…

But that’s what I’m in love with most
I’m in love with being in love with me.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

Happy Birthday Cake

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

The holiday season is full of stress, debt, and forced conversation. While we rush through the month of December, it's important to take a step back and enjoy the moments before they're gone. Most families love to watch Christmas movies, but these beloved films provide more than entertainment. Here are 10 life lessons that I've learned from the holiday classics we watch every year.

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.

From sea to shining sea, the United States was uniquely positioned for an incredible Aurora Borealis display on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2024, going into Friday, Oct. 11.

It was the second time this year after an historic geomagnetic storm in May 2024. Those Northern Lights were visible in Europe and North America, just like this latest rendition.
