As the summer draws to a close, the fall (and the school year) is quickly approaching. While this is the time of year for class lectures and term projects, it is also the time of the year where the some of the best video games titles launch for players. Maybe it might be a good idea to wait until winter break to play these games (and buy them on Black Friday), but here are a few that will make this a great gaming season:
1. Final Fantasy XV
A game that after many, MANY years will finally be launching at the end of November. In this new adventure of the Final Fantasy series, players will take control of Noctis as he and his friends travel the land to find a crystal that has the power to save his kingdom and combat "The Plague of The Stars". Gameplay footage has already revealed that combat will be more freestyle unlike the past ATB combat format. Gameplay also shows how Noctis will be able to pull off some very awesome summons in battle, allowing players to gain advantages over their enemies. With the game's expansive open world, players will have plenty to keep themselves busy in this new world.
2. Pokémon Sun and Moon
To catch you up on what else has been revealed about this game since E3, very old Pokémon from the first game will now be in this new game's region with different types. Some of these were favorites like Vulpix (now an ice type) and Marowak (now a fire/ghost type). The game will now be doing Island Trials instead of gym battles. These trials will consist of a puzzle, battling a totem Pokémon and then fighting the island's Kahuana. Also, the new big bad team will be Team Skull, who are basically modern day pirates in the Pokémon world. With these new additions to the game, players will be excited to jump into the Alola region.
3. Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare
Another game from the famous series will be launching at the very beginning of November. This time, the game will take place in space, the final frontier! This game will have players fight their enemies with space combat, transitioning from running on the ground to some zero-gravity action. I am not usually one to play this games series, but "Infinite Warfare" is changing my mind!
4. Friday the 13th: The Game
A horror game that is appropriately being released in October. This game follows the events of the original film. Here, eight players will play in a session, with one player assuming the role of Jason Vorhees. The other seven players will be camp counselors who are trying to stop him. While a session can end if the person playing Jason can kill all seven characters, the seven players can also work together to kill Jason and end the session as well (although it is Jason, so killing him will not be easy for the seven potential victims). Jason will also be able to teleport anywhere in the environment, forcing other characters to think on their feet. While it lacks a major story mode, players will enjoy the opportunity to be immersed in the creepy camp of Crystal Lake.
5. Titanfall 2
The successor to one of the Xbox One's first major multiplayer games. This game allows players to fight other players and, after getting enough points, can call a Titan (a sort of robo-suit) down to the battlefield. These machines may move slower, but they allow players to dish out more damage. This game will see the inclusion of six new Titans, even one that can shoot fire and another that can wield a sword. Ready to drop some Titan madness onto the battlefield?
