For those who play RPGs (Role Playing Games), you are used to the system of different classes. Such as: fighters, healers, and magic users to keep the categories broad. Out of these, one is pretty much across the board not given the gratitude that they deserve. That would be the healers. To me this just does not make sense. I mean just look at real life, we need our doctors. That is essentially what the healers are in games, they are the doctors. Beyond that they can even resurrect you in certain games. No party is complete without someone playing as a healer.
The reason they don't really receive much recognition is because they typically do not inflict much damage on the enemy, if any damage at all. For a lot of players the damage output of a character/player is all that matters to them. So this results in the healer being overlooked.
I think this is a travesty. Sure the healer may not seem to do much for the bottom line of the party. This is false though. The other members of the party would not be able to deal the damage that they do if they spent most of their time dying or trying to run away/heal themselves. The healers take away that problem and allow the other players to just focus on fighting the good fight without worrying so much about when they were going to die. So players everywhere, show the healers some love.
