Although both YouTube and Twitch are different formats of video sharing for the general public, both of them have the same ideology. They both provide video, whether it be live or not, that can be entertained by the public eye. Both formats have multitudes of different types of entertainers ranging from gaming to informational.

To be successful in either of these formats, it is important to be consistent on uploading or streaming, have fresh material or have a fun story that people are willing to be a part of, and be willing to change the video entertainment to suit what is new or fresh for the type of genre that one wishes to pursue. The viability of YouTube or Twitch as a full time job is dependent on the work that one is willing to put in, as well as the quality of the video that is produced by that individual.

Also important to note, to be successful in either of these formats, one must have been a pioneer of the format, made a fresh twist on the material given, or is able to manipulate the formula that content creators tend to abuse in order to attract more viewers. Yes, Youtube and Twitch are different, but they both have the same ideas of trying to attract people to watch their material.

In YouTube, specifically, it is important to note that videos tend to be static and need to be searched or trending on the internet. Most people on the internet make a big break nowadays via viral videos or coming up with a fresh twist on content, which tends to be very difficult nowadays due to tough competition in most genres within YouTube. Nowadays, one must be able to have a form of click bait, consistently upload videos, and give their viewers a reason to come back to watch future content on one’s channel.

In Twitch, the main content that is favorable to watch on the live streaming site is mainly gaming. Most famous Twitch content creators are generally at the top of the game since they started early and are a pioneer of early days of Twitch and the game that they play, or are well-seasoned veterans of a particular game. It is particularly difficult nowadays to find success within Twitch since most of the popular games within twitch have an established group of people who are already finding success and tend to work together to create a streaming schedule to accommodate for other streamers on the format.

Famous Twitch content creators also tend to have their own YouTube channel to highlight moments in their stream to promote their Twitch while at the same time gaining revenue from YouTube. Likewise, since YouTube finally started adding streaming to their website, some YouTubers have moved some of their content onto streaming within the YouTube site to stay consistent with their audience.

Overall, having YouTube or Twitch as a full-time job is viable, but definitely not for everyone. It takes a lot of dedication to create your own grounding within both formats due to the high amounts of competition, as well as established content creators dominating most of the popular genres that viewers would tend to watch. In order to pursue a career in either YouTube or Twitch, one must be able to really put the time into trying to create an audience and being able to keep them in the future.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."
