A Very Kardashian Khristmas

These are a few of my favorite things.

The holidays are upon us and it's all around us. You know what else is all around us? The Kardashian family. While admiring my small, pink Christmas tree, I turned my head and saw my copy of Kris Jenner's cookbook sitting on my kitchen counter and thought to myself, "How would the Kar-Jenners react to Christmas?"

When Halloween is over and Christmas is in full swing.

Time to break out the decorations and some hot chocolate!

But someone says "But Thanksgiving's first."

Christmas is not a day, it's a lifestyle. I can celebrate Thanksgiving while being in the Christmas spirit, thank you very much.

When it's after Thanksgiving and people still criticize your Christmas spirit.

Check the attitude at the door.

When the decorations are up.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.

Realizing that you still have tons of work to do for the end of the semester.

Christmas is a reward after getting through finals.

When you finally get to fly home.

Three weeks of no responsibilities!

When you get to see your parents for the first time in months.

I miss them so much.

Baking Christmas cookies.

My mom makes Vienna crescents and they are the bomb dot com.

When Polar Express is on.

He heard the bell ring, but all I heard were my sobs.

When you can't afford to buy Christmas presents for people.

I don't think the Kardashians have this issue though, honestly.

Picking out that perfect Christmas outfit.

Should I go with a festive ugly Christmas sweater or a nice green or red sweater?

Eating Christmas dinner.

The only thing better than those Vienna crescent cookies is my mom's chicken parm that she makes every year on Christmas Eve.

When the whole family gets together.

But that's what makes them so fun, right?

And it's time to take that family photo.

Gotta look fab.

When you go to Christmas mass.

After all, it is a religious holiday.

When your family wakes you up at the butt-crack of dawn to open gifts.

They're not going anywhere.

Unwrapping that present that you really wanted.

Awwwwww. You shouldn't have!

When you get those Christmas tunes playing.

Trans-Siberian Orchestra's "Carol of the Bells" is such a jam.

And the Christmas party is lit.

I'm sure they're jamming to Trans-Siberian Orchestra's "Carol of the Bells" too.

And when you're just spreading the spirit.

Thanks, Mason. Hope you do too!

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
