Verses For When College (Or Life) Becomes Too Much

“Is it Christmas break yet?” – Every college student in October

30
Verses For When College (Or Life) Becomes Too Much
Fine Art America (Dan Carmichael)

It’s that time of year again! Leaves are changing, Starbucks has brought back the PSL, scarves are fashionable, and most college students are ready to throw in the towel and say “I’M DONE!”
When you’ve hit that wall, don’t feel like you are alone. No matter what you come across, God will never leave you hanging like that one person in the group project you got stuck in.

When you’re feeling overwhelmed:
“Be strong! Be fearless! Don’t be afraid and don’t be scared by your enemies, because the Lord your God is the one who marches with you. He won’t let you down, and he won’t abandon you.” Deuteronomy 31:6 (CEB)

“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV)

“You are my hiding place from every storm of life; you even keep me from getting into trouble! You surround me with songs of victory. 8 I will instruct you (says the Lord) and guide you along the best pathway for your life; I will advise you and watch your progress.”
Psalm 32:7-8 (TLB)

When you’re feeling lonely

“And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28:20b (HCSB)

“When they call to me, I will answer them; when they are in trouble, I will be with them.”
Psalm 91:15 (GNTD)

“Do not be afraid. I will save you. I have called you by name—you are mine. When you pass through deep waters, I will be with you; your troubles will not overwhelm you. When you pass through fire, you will not be burned; the hard trials that come will not hurt you. For I am the Lord, your God. … because you are precious to me and because I love you and give you honor, do not be afraid—I am with you!”
Psalm 94:17-18 (GNTD)

“No one stood by me the first time I defended myself; all deserted me. ... But the Lord stayed with me and gave me strength.”
John 14:18 (ESV)

When you’re feeling sad

“He heals the brokenhearted. He bandages their wounds.”
Psalm 147:3 (ICB)

“I cried out to you, Lord.
I begged my Lord for mercy:
“What is to be gained by my spilled blood,
by my going down into the pit?
Does dust thank you?
Does it proclaim your faithfulness?
Lord, listen and have mercy on me!
Lord, be my helper!”
You changed my mourning into dancing.
You took off my funeral clothes
and dressed me up in joy
so that my whole being
might sing praises to you and never stop.
Lord, my God, I will give thanks to you forever.
Psalm 30:8-12 (CEB)

“It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”
Deuteronomy 31:8 (ESV)

“I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord.
Psalm 40:1-3 (KJV)

Don’t be discouraged. Even when life is hard, you are never in it alone.

It's officially December. There is less than a month of 2024, and I still feel like yesterday was summer. Now comes the merriest time of the year, the Christmas season.

Everyone has been waiting for this time of year since mid-October (which is way too early, in my opinion) or before. It's a time of love, family, memory-making, and gift-giving. A lot of times when I ask friends and family what they want, I get a lot of "I don't know" or "I don't care."

I was sitting at my cubicle, now that I am an adult, looking at the rain pouring down on the windowsill, bumming on life, wishing for the rain to just stop for a full day.

There are moments where we count down the hours until work is over and how many more days till the weekend, and this many weeks until something exciting. Or something like that? Well, I was bumming because my next day off from work is not until Memorial Day weekend, which is not until the end of May. And since this is my first year out of college being a “real person,” I am totally missing the winter, spring and summer breaks. I am sure all of us have felt this way even if just for a hot minute…

Great Value Colleges

If you go to or went to Kent State, then more than likely you have done or will do some of these things.

1. You’ve slipped and fallen on the ice at least once.

The winters at Kent are brutal, and while the heated sidewalks and some great snow boots are always a help, there’s no chance you won’t bust it on the ice at least once in your four plus years at school.
