Ender Inciarte of the Atlanta Braves is considered one of the best center fielders in baseball. He is very humble to admit it but inside his mind is something more important, his family in Venezuela. "Sometimes before the game I try not to look at my phone, but when they don't pick up after I call I am very worried during the game," said Inciarte in an interview recently with Fox Sports. Venezuela is currently suffering from famine and numerous protests over the recent years, and it does not look like it is getting better anytime soon.

In 2013, the president of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez died. When his successor Nicolas Maduro took over, he followed the majority of Chavez's policies, which led to high levels of violence, inflation and famine. Numerous citizens became angry, resorting to heavy protesting. A country that once appeared have a very bright future, is now inundated by hard times of a population rioting and an economy collapsing, consequences of poor decisions.

The first major protests started in April 2017 in the city of Caracas. This was known as the "mother of all marches", and the protests were against the current president Maduro with over 200,000 people participating. This is where the first people were beginning to die because of these protests as Maduro set up an expanded army of 500,000 loyal Venezuelans to combat the protesters. 33 people died following the numerous protests throughout the month and to this day there are more people dying throughout the country with the number of protests.

Previously anyone could have sent in food and medical supplies, but the government recently banned medical supplies because it has been going into the hands of terrorists, so currently, there is little that can be done except hope that the current state of the country will improve very soon.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
