Last night, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman and Las Vegas owner Bill Foley unveiled the new expansion team's logo and name to the world. Hockey fans voiced their reactions on social media and were evenly split on the reveal. Some fans felt as if the name sounded like an AHL name and that the logo looks like something from a video game while others were much more open to the name, arguing that the Columbus Blue Jackets received similar reactions upon their entrance into the league in 2000. I have a much more positive view on the Golden Knights. Although the name doesn't accurately represent Las Vegas, I doubt the NHL would have wanted the team to implicate that gambling. The logo itself doesn't seem too dull, and I'm sure that the logo will be revised someday. Some people are just looking for a reason to hate the team because Las Vegas is not really a hockey city. This may be true, but it's a good attempt to turn Vegas into a hockey town and expand the sport. The team is finally here, and it's time to accept them for who they are and prepare for the chaotic Entry Draft that is going to unfold next summer.
