When some people hear the word "vegan" they automatically think "diet." Although that is slightly right since being vegan is a type of diet, others assume veganism as a bad diet because they view veganism as a form of starvation. The reason for this assumption is due to veganism restricting a ton of supplements and nutrition that comes from certain foods such as diary, meat, eggs, jello, bread, etc. Due to the lack of certain nutrition, vegans have to search for other ways on how to receive them before risking any health problems.
Some get vitamin pills prescribed by their doctors and others find replacements. Veganism also has a bad reputation due to how thin some vegans are, but that is a bad misconception. To believe that all vegans are thin, food picky and judgey is false. Most vegans are thin but there are also vegans who have belly fat and thick thighs and vegans aren't judgy and picky, they are just very aware of what they put in their bodies due to the lifestyle they want to be committed to.
Veganism has gotten more popular over the last past three years due to social media such as Instagram and Twitter posts of smoothie bowls and then having YouTiber's demonstrating how to make smoothie bowls and sharing what they prefer as their toppings. Veganism also became very popular or at least well known due to celebrities and their share of vegan dishes.
It is a lifestyle and it should be known as a person's habit of eating a specific way with certain products rather than just stating it is a diet based on food and plants. Vegans have a bad reputation when in reality they are known to live a healthy lifestyle due to the amount of fruits and vegetable they eat as well as drinking natural juices rather than produced juice everyone gets from plastic bottles. Veganism should be defined as being healthy rather than on a diet.
Going vegan at some point in life is a great decision and this is coming from a person who experienced veganism for nine months. When I was eating a vegan diet, my body felt and looked amazing due to the changes that it was going through and my energy was to the roof without the need of coffee or an energy drink.
The best part was that I got to eat as much as I wanted without restricting myself because vegan dishes are low in calories so it is not as filling. I got hungry every 2 hours and even though I ate a ton, I did not get that lazy feeling or desire to sleep afterwards. Compared to a person who eats meat and consumes dairy, they are most likely to get full easily and lack energy afterwards.
There are negatives and positives to being vegan but the positives definitely outshine the negatives. Try being vegan for at least a month or two and it will be a great life-changing experience.
