Why The Vamps Should Be Your New Music Obsession

It’s a new year, new you, which means—time to discover new music? If you’re looking for some upbeat tunes to dance to, while also craving a mix of slow heartfelt ballads, you should definitely consider checking out The Vamps! They are a British band based in the UK, and although this might bring thoughts of comparisons to One Direction, their music sound and performing style is completely different. Here are 10 reasons why you should listen to The Vamps:

1. Their Eclectic Style Proves They’re Perfect for More Than One Type of Fan

The Vamps have a very broad sound and style, which means they’re great for multiple types of listeners. From pop tunes like ‘Windmills’ to more rocky vibes like ‘Be With You’, to slower heart-touching songs like 'Stolen Moments', the band have a song for everyone.

2. They Are Catchy

Not only do The Vamps release music that’s diverse and heartfelt, but their lyrics will also get stuck in your head forever. After listening to each song a couple times, you’ll already be absentmindedly singing yourself the lyrics, and surprising yourself by how fast you learned them!

3. Just Released New Music and it’s on Point

Their new album Wake Up just dropped last month and it’s incredible. So if you’re looking for a bunch of new tunes to fall in love with, their new album is perfect.

4. They Fit The Gap

We all have a secret love for boy bands at the bottom of our hearts, don’t lie. NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, The Jonas Brothers, One Direction? Although The Vamps don’t consider themselves an actual ‘boyband’, they still have the sound we all love, and with 1D on break for a while, where else are we supposed to put our boyband-loving energy?

5. They Play Their Own Instruments and Write Their Own Songs

Although you don’t have to play an instrument or write your own instruments to be a great artist, we can still admit it’s pretty impressive when artist do. The Vamps play all their own instruments on their album and on stage, and they write most of their songs.

6. Amazing Live

Speaking of playing their own instruments, The Vamps sound incredible live! With minimal production and a maximum amount of vocal skills, if you see The Vamps live, you will not regret it.

7. They Have a Song with Silentó

Like the guy who is responsible for the whole 'Whip, Nae Nae' phenomenon.

8. 'Rest Your Love' is Perfect

Their current single 'Rest Your Love' is incredibly likable, and their music video features famous stars such as Maisie Williams, aka Arya Stark (shout out to all the "Game of Thrones" fans).

9. They’re Funny

If you watch any of The Vamps interviews or backstage videos, you’ll know they’re a bunch of goofballs, who are also super down to earth, and don't take like that seriously. If you’re ever bored on YouTube, googling tutorials on ‘How-to-train-your-elephant,’ stop by a Vamps video if you want to laugh a little.

10. They Love Their Fans

In interviews, the boys always talk about how much they love their fans and how grateful they are for them.

We all love that feeling of finding songs we’ve never heard before, and then falling in love with them. So if you’re looking for new music to listen to, be sure to check out The Vamps. They might sound like the typical boyband, but if you listen to their music, you’ll know that isn’t the case.

I'll admit it, I have a condition called RBF or, if you will, Resting Bitch Face.

Anna Kendrick, poor Kristen Stewart, the Queen of England are all life-long sufferers of RBF. Victoria Beckham even made a career out of it! And though it's usually used to describe women, some men are also afflicted. Kanye West is the best example of this.

April Ludgate

Everyone who is in college right now, or has ever been, knows the struggle of pulling in the strings at the last second. It seems impossible, and you have to do a LOT of things in order to assure your future for the next semester.

April Ludgate, historically, is a very annoyed person, and she doesn't hide it. Of all the times that I binged and re-binged "Parks and Rec," her attitude relates more and more to me.

To The Cheerful Person On Their Rainy Days, You Are Valid

The world is not always sunshine and rainbows, and you do not have to be, either.

Ask friends of mine to name a quality about me, and one a lot them will point out the fact that I am almost always smiling. I like to laugh and smile -- not to quote Buddy the Elf in April, but smiling is my favorite! It is probably my favorite go-to expression. However, what a lot of people do not see is that I have my down days. I have days when smiling and laughing is a real struggle, or when I have so much on my plate that going out of my way to behappy takes more effort than I have stored in me. Be it a symptom of college and growing up or a facet of life, I cannot always be content.
