First off, no, I'm not crazy. For as long as I can recall, I've always had this fascination with vampirism. Not so much the whole drinking other people's blood conundrum, more so the concept of living forever. Throughout time, vampires have been portrayed as this sort of demon-like scary bedtime story. "Dracula," "Buffy The Vampire Slayer," and numerous other fictions only furthered this portrayal.

Fast forward to the introduction of the "Twilight"-era, millennials grew obsessed. Whether it be the prospect of immortality or the sheer amount of hot men that portray these bloodsuckers, the allure of this supernatural figure has without-a-doubt plagued the minds of adolescents everywhere.

As far as my Halloween plans go, I think it’s pretty clear. Here’s why I’m going on my 6th year as a Vampire.

1. Vampire Makeup is Iconic

Nothing says vampire better than the staple canine fangs. Pair that with under eye veins that somehow end up seeming more like a pair of designer bags by the end of the night and you’ve got the look down. Oh and for those Twilight fanatics, don’t forget the blood red eyes. (pun intended)

2. You Feel Like An Actual Vampire

Let’s face it, being a vampire is a rush. Speed, strength, everything is heightened. Life through the eyes of a vampire is extraordinary. Who doesn’t want to feel amazing all the time? Just, please refrain from sprinting down the street, it’s only fictional.

3. Blood

Whether it be fake blood from the store, or some sort of one part chocolate one part food coloring mixture, it just ties the whole look together. The only downside is the pain it is to clean it off the next day. Worth it.

4. Red Eyes

The red eyes are possibly my favorite part of this look. There’s just something so vivid about blood red eyes. You can probably find the contact lenses at most Halloween stores, but if you’re one of the unlucky ones who need prescription lenses, (me) good luck!

5. The Fangs

The fangs are by far the hardest part of this look. The mouthpiece looks horrible, so go for the individual stick-on teeth. Just ignore the lisp, you look badass.

6. The Outfit

It’s pretty straightforward to put this look together once you’ve gotten all the details figured out. Typically, all black paired with a leather jacket will suffice. Just go for dark, mysterious, and — above all — sexy.

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
