12 Things We Still Miss About 'The Vampire Diaries' One Year After The Finale
The CW

It's been one year since the series finale of "The Vampire Diaries" and we are still not over it. Before I began watching it myself, I thought it was some stupid teen romance show. But I can honestly say that it is now one of my favorite shows, and I speak for all of the fans when I say there are so many things we miss about it.

1. Damon & Stefan Salvatore

It's so hard to choose which brother was your favorite. In the beginning, Damon was absolute scum but the more you watched, the more his character grew on you. And Stefan...well, Stefan was Stefan. And the two together were pure gold.

2. The plot twists

You were a fool if you got too attached to any of the characters.

3. Caroline Forbes

I don't know about you, but Caroline was my absolute least favorite character when I first started watching "The Vampire Diaries." She was so annoying and extremely self-centered. But as the show progressed, her character developed into a very strong female lead.

4. Damon & Liz

Need I say more?

5. Lorenzo "Enzo" St. John

Oh, Enzo! One of my favorite characters. And when Stefan ripped his heart out you can bet your bottom dollar I was one angry person.

6. Stefan & Lexi

Stefan and Lexi are the definition of the perfect friendship. And even though her character was killed off pretty early in the series, I loved how she made reappearances at various points throughout the rest of the series.

7. Kai Parker

Alright, Kai is the epitome of a love-hate relationship. You hate him and everything he's done, but you'd be lying if you said he wasn't hilarious. Seriously. For a sociopath, he has quite a sense of humor.

8. Klaus & Caroline

Even though you were rooting for Caroline and Tyler, there was a little part of you that was secretly hoping Caroline and Klaus would end up together. Don't even try to deny it.

9. The Flashbacks

The flashbacks gave us a deeper look into the lives of our favorite characters (and even our least favorite characters).

10. Tyler Lockwood

Yeah, I know...he was a pretty big jerk at the beginning of the series. But once he triggered his werewolf curse he really turned over a new leaf!

11. Damon & Bonnie

After being stuck in 1994 prison world together, you could say that they became pretty tight. Their friendship was one of my favorites to watch develop throughout the series and I miss watching it so much.

12. The extreme tear-jerkers

Now I don't cry during TV shows, but there were countless episodes in which I felt like I had just lost my best friend. Like when Liz Forbes died or we everyone gathered around Alaric as he prepared for his inevitable death. Man, those episodes were rough, let me tell you. I have never watched such an emotionally draining show.

"The Vampire Diaries:" It's been one year, and we are still not over you.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
