The flowers, chocolates, and cute little bears fill the stores. It's that time of year, where Valentine's Day is upon us and if you're like me, in the single population, you might find this day the most extra and annoying holiday of the year.

Personally, I love Valentine's day, and I have never been in a relationship during the holiday. Being single should not stop you from enjoying this holiday, even if it's a little extra.

Here are five things to do when your single on Valentine's Day:

1. Have a movie night with friends.

Celebrate Singleness Awareness day with others who are in the same boat as you! It doesn't have to be a cheesy chick flick (although those are great options). Pick one or a few movies, invite some friends, pig out on some delicious snacks and make it a Valentine's Day to remember!

2. Make Valentine's for Veterans.

Many have lost loved ones, and spend this holiday alone. Our Veterans have and continue to sacrifice so much for our country. I remember in school, we would always make Valentine's for the Veterans. Even if they are a little late, sending a heartfelt card or thoughtful note to one, could make this holiday brighter for them.

3. Get the courage to reach out to that one person.

Alright, this one might seem a little out there, but hey there's no better day than a day that is filled with commercialized romance. Maybe there's a special someone you've had your eye on for a while, but haven't had the courage to talk to them, well now's your chance. It doesn't have to be anything fancy, I mean let's be real, all the restaurants will be booked anyways. Maybe it's hanging out and watching a movie or getting coffee or ice cream. Take a chance this holiday, and maybe you'll be spending it a little differently next year ;)

4. Love on others.

This is a way we should live every day, and Valentine's Day is a perfect reminder of that. The entirety of this holiday is built on love, so what better way to spend the holiday than to go out of your way to love and serve others. Whether that be passing out cute valentines to friends, calling someone who might be a little extra lonely today, or bringing someone a sweet treat, there are so many things you can do, to show someone you care.

5. Treat yo self.

I am a strong believer that in order to truly be able to love someone else, you have to fall in love with yourself first. What better way, to love yourself than treat yourself?! Order your favorite takeout, binge watch your favorite show, or let yourself spend time doing the hobby you never have enough time for. The options are endless!

Don't let this Valentine's Day be a dwelling Single Awareness day. Take these 5 ideas and put them to use and make this V-Day, the best one yet.

XOXO.

10 Truths About Being In A Sorority

(For Girls Who Are Interested In Greek Life)

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
