With Valentine's Day just around the corner, we start scrambling to find the perfect gift for that special someone. To me, Valentine's Day is more about the corny gifts that make you and your partner say "Awww" while the rest of the world thinks it's super cheesy. I've had my fair share of punny Valentine's Days.
For me and my boyfriend's first Valentine's Day together, everything was a pun. We saw "Star Wars" around that time of year so I bought him a Chewbecca and Obi Wan Kenobi Pop! Vinyl with the caption "Chew the Obi Wan for me" and I did throw in a little "Yoda best!"
Not to mention, I also threw in some gummy worms with a card that said: "I'm hooked" and Reese's Pieces with a card that read: "I love you to pieces." It's all about the puns!
1. Mixtape
Oh, how 1980s! Yes, it may be completely old fashioned, but what better way to say "I love you" than putting together every song that ever reminded you of that special someone?
2. Name a star after them
Some may find this idea rather silly, but Finn did it for Rachel in Glee (although, he named it after himself) and it was a great episode!
3. Scrapbook
If you saved some old movie stubs, tickets to that Broadway play you saw, or those polaroid pics you took at the beach one summer, throw them into a scrapbook!
4. Write a book
For my one year anniversary with my boyfriend, I made a book for him through LoveBook and it came out great! I made it the story of us, from when we first met to our one year anniversary. I was extremely happy with the way it came out!
5. Put your pictures to songs
For this, I used Windows Media Player. I picked out pictures and videos, put them to songs, and then burned it onto a DVD. It's like a mixtape and photobook combined. It's definitely fun to be on the receiving end because you never know which embarrassing picture is coming up next.
6. A bunch of snacks
Who doesn't love snacks? Especially in college, we need snacks! Whether you are sending it in a care package, or hand delivering it to them, everyone appreciates a good snack.
7. Dinner
Getting all dressed up and going on a date pretty much makes the perfect evening. We're in college, how often do we get to eat non-campus food? If you're long distance, FaceTime your dinner. Unfortunately, that will mean sticking to campus food.
8. Love letter
Super corny, but this is especially cute for the long-distance relationships. Nothing more romantic and old-fashioned than handwriting a letter and sticking it in the mail.
