Because this is a day in which it's appropriate for me to gush about how great you are to everyone.

An Open Letter To My Boyfriend On Valentine's Day

To my Boyfriend,

I can't help but be thankful for you as Valentine's Day is just around the corner. You spoil me to pieces, and when the 14th rolls around, I'll probably remind you of all of the wonderful thoughts that pass through my mind when I hear your name... but I want you to know I'd feel that way with or without this holiday. Valentine's Day is a lovely holiday-- couples of all sorts get to express their feelings for each other on this universal day of love and acceptance-- but I want you to know that on February 15th when all of the candy goes on sale, you'll still be my Valentine.

You know how when you meet someone you never know how the friendship or relationship will turn out? That was you to me at 2 in the morning as we were doing yoga on your dorm room floor. But I sure as hell knew I wanted to see you again. When you meet someone who leaves you laughing uncontrollably AND treats you to your first university sub, you know it's not going to be the last time you see them. Fast forward a few months (and Snapchats) later, and we're going on what I consider our first official date. Once again, I find myself charmed by your smile, good looks, and ability to make me laugh. You won me over for good that day, and the rest is history.

So thank you...

Thank you for being my rock. You pick me up when I'm down, literally, even if it was because we had a tickle fight and I lost (again). You motivate me in a way I never knew. To be honest, I think I procrastinate so much because I enjoy the simple reminders from you. Thank you for supporting me, and know that I will always be there for you. You make me so proud, and there's nothing better than showing you off just by holding your hand.

Thanks for taking care of me when I'm sick, and not giving up on me when I'm frustrating you beyond belief. Also, thanks for not getting too embarrassed when I tell all of your friends how great you are.

Thank you for making me smile. More than that-- you make me laugh. The best part about you making me laugh is the look of satisfaction on your face when I finally calm down. I hope to truly make you as happy as you make me.

Thank you for being my cuddle buddy, and not getting too mad when we watched Grease and I insisted on singing every single song even when I didn't know the words. Your tolerance for my quirks makes you even more appealing than you were when I met you.

Most of all, thank you for being you- my handsome, funny, intelligent, wonderful boyfriend. Happy Valentine's Day to such an incredible guy. You're worth much more than a box of candies to me.

XOXO,

Your extremely grateful girlfriend

P.S. I couldn't imagine having another Valentine by my side

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
