With Valentine's Day fast approaching, most couples are wondering how to spend their special day. Instead of finding yourselves on the same old date, here are a few ideas to spice up this Valentine's Day.

1. Go to dinner and a movie!

Okay, this one is pretty cliche. I chose it as the first because it seemed like a crime to leave it out.

2. Make dinner at home!

One of my favorite date night ideas is picking out a few recipes and cooking them together. The food usually turns out pretty good, it's a break from stereotypical restaurant food, and it saves a few bucks.

3. Tie-dye t-shirts together!

This one is a little more artsy, but it's a fun way to make something that'll last longer than a box of chocolates or a bouquet of flowers. And, if you work hard enough, you can make tacky matching shirts like those pictured above.

4. Have a game night at home!

This one can be especially fun if the two of you can get competitive with each other. Try Monopoly, card games, or messy Twister!

5. Go to a concert or comedy show!

On date night, I took my man to see a comedy show, and he loved it! This is a fun way to change things up with a livelier idea.

6. Go on a double date!

Lame stock image aside, it's a great way to build community and ease the pressure of a one-on-one date.

7. Volunteer somewhere!

This one is definitely less traditional, but for some Valentine's Day isn't about the romance. Find a local shelter or soup kitchen to volunteer at and show some non-romantic love.

8. Go see a sporting event!

Some couples love spending date night supporting the local team. Give it a try!

9. Get lost in a library or bookstore!

One of my fondest memories is spontaneously spending a date at a bookstore, reading through couples' trivia books. We learned a lot more about each other and had fun doing it!

10. Build a pillow fort and watch some movies!

Another fond memory: on our last night before separating for the summer, he surprised me with my favorite food, a blanket fort, and a movie night.

11. Go out dancing!

This is something we've been dying to try. Find a local swing dancing club that'll teach beginners. You can learn a new skill and fall more in love.

I hope you all have a lovely, romantic, fun, and safe Valentine's Day! <3

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
