It is February, and besides Presidents' Day and Groundhog Day, there is a special day that a lot of people either get excited for or dread, Valentine's Day. Yes Valentine's Day is less than a week away, and people are deciding on what their plans are going to be. Valentine's Day is basically a day where you either spend time with your significant other, friends, or even by yourself for that matter. So in this little article, I'm just going to talk about all the things you can do if you don't have a significant other and are going to hang out with friends, or you are going to be by yourself and you just don't know what to do.
With friends:
My advice on what to do when you are hanging out with your friends on Valentine's Day is have a movie night, a game night, or all of you go out to a restaurant to eat and hang out. There are plenty of Valentine's Day movie theater watching, TV, or DVDs that you probably own that you can just bring over to someone's dorm/room/house. Having a blast with friends will always make the day better
By Yourself:
Well, I try to make the most of this day by being productive with something, watch a movie, order food, or what I've been doing for the past few years: watching the Charlie Brown Valentine's Day Special. I don't remember how or why this became a tradition for me to watch it every year, but I just love watching it. It's not the fact that Charlie Brown just lucks out from getting The Little Red-Haired Girl, but I just love all his specials and I always watch them when it's the time of the year for all of his adventures. I used to make arts & crafts or just read romance stories for when it's that time of the year, but as I got older, I decided that I needed to do other things to preoccupy my time.
A little off topic, but remember back in elementary school when we begged our parents to take us to the store and we bought those Valentine's Day cards pack, like either plain ones or SpongeBob or even Hannah Montana? I don't know why, but I feel like we took Valentine's Day a little bit too serious as kids. Like each card had a different message on them and you could either attach a sticker or a piece of candy to it and it was up to us to decide who got what? Those were the days. I never realized as you left elementary school to go on to middle school, that the ball game of how Valentine's Day is would also change right along with you. It went from your whole class being your valentine to probably nobody but your closest friends....time has changed a lot.
Anyway, Valentine's Day is nearly here and I hope that everyone is happy on that day no matter who you spend it with or just spending it by yourself.
