Which Is Better: Valentine's or Galentine's?

Ah yes, Valentine’s day is slowly approaching and I’m slowly preparing myself for this none sense of a holiday that I also coincidently still love so much!! My Valentine’s day plans include my roomies, lots of chocolate, and sparkling grape juice because what else is a better way to celebrate the single life? Honestly, I could never hate on a holiday so pure, I love love too much.

Throughout my lifetime, my parents made Valentine’s day pretty big at my house, just because they wanted my siblings and me to know how loved we are and that we didn't need to wait around for a significant other to bring us flowers and chocolates so they would shower us with flowers, chocolates, and little gifts instead. It’s the cutest little tradition ever!!

It all started in the 7th grade, imagine a pre-pubescent Nour, kinda awkward and definitely crushing on some boy from afar. Could barely bring myself to ask him for the time of day so of course, he was not going to know I liked him so much and he definitely was not going to be my Valentine. I’m pretty sure my mom saw I was pretty bummed about it because I wasn’t going to be receiving my candygram from my crush (who btw hit me up when I glowed up smh). So that day my dad pulled up into the car rider line with flowers and balloons to let me know how loved I am and it made my insides so happy like I'm pretty sure my organs smiled that day. And ever since then my parents make it a point to make us feel loved on Valentine's day.

Valentine’s day may feel like a pretty useless holiday because every day you should be reminded about how loved you are but personally I love it so much because I love watching other people be loved on and feel loved. And I love making people feel loved. And now that I've overused the word loved I hope that I have gotten my point across.

But now that I’ve gotten that out of the way, I wanted to talk about how important friendship is too. You don't need a romantic relationship to have a fun Valentine’s day! I’d be lying to you if I said that I wouldn’t like one but that doesn't mean that I need it because I’m fully aware of the unconditional love that surrounds me from God, my family, and my friends.

Be there for your girlfriends or even your boyfriends because everyone likes to feel loved and maybe even reminded of it on a day like this, everyone is worthy of love. Friendship is so important because it is the base and foundation of everything. Your self-worth is not determined by your significant other or the person you admire because you are so much more than that. I wish that a couple months back I could have taken my own advice. You can’t preach what you don't practice!!

I’ve had so much light shed on my life recently that made me realize the impact of what a good friendship is and how important it is to take care of it and put effort into it. Friendship is so cool when it comes to relationships too because your significant other should be one of your best friends! And before you think about a relationship, you should think about strengthening the friendship and build that ground and grow from there. If you told me that a couple months back, I probably would have made a face but honestly, it is the truest thing ever. Now I could go on forever but I’ll save that for another time.

I hope every single person on this planet knows they are loved by someone and if you don't then just know that I love you just from this article and that my not feel like much but I’m sending you loads of love from here!!! Happy Valentine’s Day you beautiful humans!!!

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

371
Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
