Valentine Day Dates Ideas in Starkville

1. Picnic at the Refuge

There's nothing more romantic than a picnic on Valentine's day. Grab your partner and head to the grocery store to splurge on expensive cheese, wine, and crackers. Make the date even better with a polaroid camera and cute picnic blanket!

2. Hammock overlooking the Research Field

The Research Field is the best place to hammock. All you have to do to get there is enter the research center across from Sanderson, take a right when you get to the stop sign, then at the next intersection take another right. There should be a parking lot with trees to set your hammock up! It's a beautiful place to take pictures and watch the sunset. Grab a blanket and a speaker and enjoy the last few hours of daylight with your significant other.

3. Participate in Sweetheart Days at Chick-Fil-A

Going on from February 8th-13th, get your sweetheart a heart-shaped tray from Chick-fil-A. You can place your order over the phone or online. You can get a tray of chicken-minis, chicken nuggets, brownies, and cookies. Also if you stop by for breakfast on February 12th or 13th, the biscuits will be heart-shaped <3

4. Make a reservation

There are many restaurants in Starkville. (I'm not going to say which ones are the best or nicest because that's for you to decide) However, some notable mentions that serve good food with quality service are the Veranda, Georgia blue, Restaurant Tyler, Harvey's, Flavors Cuisine of India, The Grille, or Umi.

5. Go see a Movie

The movie theater in Starkville is back open and now is the perfect time to go see a movie with your significant other. This date is the perfect idea for people who either just started dating or just want something lowkey. Go eat a casual meal before and grab some cheap snacks before heading in.

6. Trampoline Park

Okay, this one isn't ~quite~ in Starkville but it's in Columbus. If your partner is the type of person that wants to do fun activities, take them to Rebound Trampoline Park. Spend a few hours playing laser tag and jumping around then swing downtown and eat at Zachary's to finish up the night!

7. Have drinks at the Guest Room

If you haven't heard of the Guest Room, definitely check it out. This place is meant to be a speakeasy out in an alleyway behind Restaurant Tyler. The cocktails are supposedly phenomenal and they also serve food from Restaurant Tyler. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a menu, because the drinks are seasonally changing. However the average price of a cocktail about $6-$8 dollars in other restaurants around Starkville.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
