Two years ago, around this time of year, I was a high school senior who was not quite clueless what I wanted to do with life post-graduation, but pretty close. I knew that going off to college was the best option for me, but as I toured numerous big city schools, I never found one that I could call home; until I stumbled upon UW-La Crosse. Since the day I received my acceptance letter, I've been smitten. Something about this place just makes you want to never leave. Why is that; you ask?

The average class size is not much larger than a high school class.

The average class size here at UWL is only 28 people! This means you won't be stuck in a lecture pit full of 200+ students you've never seen before. At UWL, you're sure to recognize a familiar face when you walk into a room. If not, you won't have the slightest problem making a new friend. Small class sizes also allow for a more personalized education when it comes to getting to know your professors (which is highly recommended!).

La Crosse gives off that "small town charm" vibe, while over 10,000 students call it home.

La Crosse itself is home to more than 50,000 people, but campus makes everything feel smaller. Here at UWL, you don't have to worry about catching the city bus to your next class; everything is within walking distance on campus!

The surrounding community is nothing shy of gorgeous.

Whether you're up for a scenic trip to Grandad Bluff or strolling through Riverside Park , you certainly won't be bored. The city is absolutely gorgeous no matter what time of year, so get outdoors and adventure.

Historic downtown La Crosse is only down the road from campus.

From shopping to dining to the nightlife scene, historic downtown has it all. Its charm will certainly woo you, and you'll desire to explore all it has to offer.

We are also home to a high retention rate...I wonder why!

Because this school is simply awesome, that's why. 83% of students return after their first year at UWL!

I'll always stand with my decision to call UW-La Crosse home!

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
