Growing up near one of the only major universities in Vermont, there's no wonder I grew up a big Catamount fan. It also helps when the majority of your family also attended college there. Ever since I was little I remember attending basketball games on the weekend with my family. From the excitement of the game or the roar of the crowd, my family looked forward to going to the games every weekend during the winter. That's probably why I never learned how to ski, I was always too busy watching basketball. Although I don't attend the school, you can always find me rooting for the Catamounts. Here are 10 signs you grew up watching UVM basketball...

1. You dreamed of one day playing at Patrick Gym

Whether it was for AAU, your high school championship game, or the lucky chance you get to play for the Catamounts themselves, every Vermont basketball player dreams of one day playing at Patrick Gym. This is where it all happens, and you dream of one day playing the game here.

2. You owned a lot of green and gold

The only time you told yourself you would wear the two colors together; to support your favorite team of course!

3. You always wanted your picture taken with Rally Cat

I mean who wouldn't want their picture taken with the coolest mascot?

4. You always knew when they scored a three-pointer

For as long as I can remember, the announcer always calls a three-pointer by calling the player's last name and saying "...FOR THREE"

5.Your love of basketball started at Patrick Gym

6. You consider Tom Brennan a legend

Let's face it, although he's been retired for 10+ years, the man is still a legend at UVM

7. You still remember watching the NCAA Game against Syracuse

Probably one of the most exciting games to go down in UVM history. UVM(13) beat Syracuse(4) in the first game of the first round of NCAA tournament. FROM THE PARKING LOT!! I would highly recommend watching the re-cap below

8. You always saw someone you knew at the games

Don't underestimate Vermont. We may be small, but we all come out to see our favorite team play

9. The chants were always stuck in your head the rest of the day

GO CATS GO!

10. Your love of basketball started here

I began playing basketball around 7 or 8, but my love for the game started at Patrick Gym. After every game, all I wanted to do was practice shooting with my dad, and although I wasn't always the best player, I never gave up. I have to thank the UVM basketball program for giving me so many childhood memories I will never forget.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
