Habiba Soliman: UT Martin Homecoming Queen Nominee

Habiba Soliman is the homecoming representative for Zeta Tau Alpha. Bibi is what most of her college friends call her. She is from Cairo, Egypt and moved to the United States in 2010. She states, "It was a dramatic change and a cultural shock. It took me a while to realize that if I don't step outside my comfort zone, and seek for opportunities, I will achieve nothing".

From then until now, Bibi is now a senior communications major and will be graduating December 2016. She hopes to go to grad school at the University of Connecticut and pursue a degree in the M.A. Program in Communication. This program emphasizes the scientific study of human communication and behavior. She hopes that she will be able to fulfill her goals. If that does not work out, she says "I plan to stay in Tennessee and hopefully be a UT Martin recruiter while getting my degree in Leadership and Professional Practice".

Being nominated by the sorority chapter the individual is in, is a big deal for homecoming queen. That means that the chapter knows the individual is well known around campus and represents their school well. With that being said, she has been involved in many clubs along with ZTA which include: SOAR staff, Pep leader, and Undergraduate Alumni Council.

Bibi states, "It is a HUGE honor, that my chapter nominated and trusted me to represent ZTA". During homecoming week, the students on campus at UT Martin will vote for their homecoming queen. The winner will be announced at the football game on Saturday, Oct. 8.

UT Martin means a lot to her in many different ways. She says, "I have made an enormous amount of fantastic friendships because of UTM that I will forever cherish. I have made connections with outstanding faculty and staff. I am a forever and always PROUD Skyhawk!"

Being in a sorority, having work and then homecoming when you get done with a long day can be challenging at sometimes, but it does not phase Bibi. Bibi has worked throughout college along with having homework and being a Zeta Tau Alpha.

Bibi says, "I joined ZTA and everyone and everyone was incredibly welcoming and they all showed interest by knowing things about me. My friendships started expanding so rapidly, and my leadership skills were growing".

Bibi is highly spirited in everything that she does. She was the Zeta Risk Manager in 2014 and is now the New Member Educator. The new member educator is the one who helps all the new freshman members. They are the leader of all their meetings and helps make their freshman year easier by getting all the advice they need from the new member educator.

Homecoming is Oct. 8 and the winner will be announced during halftime. Bibi is Zeta Tau Alpha's nominee, will she have the vote from the student body, she will see.

Blair Waldorf

The "Gossip Girl" series may be over, but Blair Waldorf's iconic character lives in our hearts forever. Blair was the queen of the Upper East Side, and a character you either loved or hated. She taught us everything we needed to know about life, love and of course, how to score a Chuck Bass. So the next time you feel a bit lost and are in need of guidance, look no further than to the Queen B herself.

As I spend my Sunday avoiding my homework and other adult responsibilities, I realized that I've watched this series over and over about a million times. Sadly, there isn't a Blair quote I don't know, so I came up with a list of a few favorites. You know you love her...xoxo

two women enjoying confetti

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Feeling Lost During Syllabus Week? You're Not Alone!

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.
