Madeline Alise Peebles

I was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and I attended school there as well; my experiences there were awesome until eighth grade. I was rezoned to another school where I was bullied because of the way I spoke, dressed, the things I ate ... I was bullied for being who I was This was weird to me because I am originally from Jena, Alabama; a small town of just family and family friends. I was not aware that people could be so hateful, but I've experienced it and now I am ready to highlight the good, the bad, and the nasty, ugly truth about how it really feels to be a young adult in school. The Odyssey caught my attention because I've always wanted to be a writer for as long as I can remember. Poetry, short stories, articles, editorials, you name it and I'll read and write it; it's the only way I've ever been able to express myself without fear or hesitation. It's expression, it's healing, it's everything captured in words and it has commanded the attention of the world since the beginning of time, This opportunity is one that I could not pass up and I am more than excited to learn and grow with other young people if selected to partake and be a part of this social platform.
