After pursuing Odyssey for a few hours, I was able to come to two conclusions:
1)Odyssey provides a safe space for expression and reflection, which does not always occur on social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook, making it easier for individuals to form their own opinions on their artist's latest project or even a presidential candidate.
2)Odyssey is much more organized and equipped for promoting cultural and ideological exchange. As I opened Odyssey, I took notice to the fact that there were no separating of interests. You can find an article on Camus' poetry, and right beneath it is an article on understanding gender, and a review of Tesla Cars. The user is not limited to seeing articles on topics that only "interest" then; however, the user is given the opportunity to gain a perspective on a topic they may have not considered.
For me Odyssey provides a platform for me to engage and correspond with individuals who may not have been aware of the effect Louisiana Budget Cuts will have on students or the significance of fair representation in the media. I would utilize Odyssey's ability to gather a range of individuals and familiarize them with a perspective they wouldn't have otherwise considered.
