It was 2015, a short four years ago. Every bar, restaurant, and household had the television turned to the Women's World Cup. It was the United States v. Japan, and boy we're glad we tuned in! It hit charts at 26.7 MILLION viewers, earning it the most watched soccer match in American history. In that year, that match had more views than the NBA finals and the Stanley Cup!

The U.S. Women's Soccer Team beat Thailand 13-0 in June 2019. That is the TOP scoring number in the entire history of the world cup. Business Insider also added that "it's also more goals than the US Men's team has scored in every world cup since 2006. Combined."

Although the controversy surrounding this game and how the U.S. team should have stopped scoring, this was still a record-breaking game. Also, the women should be allowed to score. This is what they worked for and dreamed about. So, you go girls!

As we all know, women (still) do not have equal pay compared to their male counterparts. These women are one of the headers of this fight for equality. If you are not familiar, FIFA is the head of the national teams. For the Women's World Cup, they will award $30 million. Sounds like a lot, right? I hope you're sitting down because the prize money for the Men's World Cup is $400 million.

They all support and inspire each other.

If you watch these women, you can feel the passion they have for the game and how much they support each other on and off the field. Watching them play is almost satisfying as all their moves seem so effortless and smooth. In interviews, they talk about how they inspire each other to be better and work harder. They are such a badass team and deserve every ranking, every celebration, and every right to where they are now.

THEY FREAKING WON THE WORLD CUP...FOR THE 4TH TIME!

Not once, not twice, not even three times. The fourth time is the USWNT are World Cup champs.

In case you're unaware, "resting bitch face" is the term used to describe when a person's natural, expressionless face makes it look like they are mad at the world. Whether they are walking down the street or simply spacing out thinking about what to eat for dinner, it's very easy for others to assume that this person is either upset or mad at them. Because of this, those of us with Resting Bitch Face (RBF), and especially us women, have all experienced many of the same situations and conversations, including:

We've all had a crush before. Whether it leads to something or nothing, the process has all been the same. The awkward feelings, the stalking, and the stress of trying to keep this huge secret. At the tender age of 18, we are bestowed with the title of “adult.” For 17 years, we live under the rules and guidelines of our parents, school, and government, and to stray from any of those rules or guidelines marks us as a rebel. At 18, though, we must choose which college we want to go to or what career we want. We are allowed and encouraged to vote. We can buy lottery tickets and cigarettes. We can drop out of school, leave our household, and do other "adult" things. At 18, we start down a path of thinking for ourselves, when for the entirety of our lives other institutions have been mandated to think and do for us.

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.
