Dirty T:

What everyone calls Tucson. If you have been here you fully understand the name because it is all-around dirty. I can’t wait to be reunited with all my besties in the Dirty T and start senior year.

Bear Down:

A very short summary: years ago John Byrd “Button” Salmon, the student body president at the U of A, was in a car accident and said to the coach at the time, J.F. “Pop” McKale, to tell them team to “bear down.” #Beardown

The Mall:

The giant green patch in the middle of campus; commonly hosts people with aggressive signs, tents full of people trying to make you sign up for something, giant bouncy houses and other random activities. I was walking across the mall and I stopped to go on the slip and slide.

UAWIFI:

The most unreliable Wi-Fi you will ever encounter. I was in the middle of an important quiz when UAWIFI stopped working.

Red Dot:

The sign that appears on D2L to let you know you have either failed or succeeded. *Signs on to D2L, clicks on the red dot* Aw I got a 64% on the test.

Shibboleth Error:

Still trying to figure out what exactly it is. Every time I try to sign on to UAccess it says Shibboleth Error.

Dayge:

Day + rage = dayge. Are you going to the dayge on Saturday?

Eegees:

A place with flavored frozen ice that happens to be at every event you ever attend. Apparently they also have sandwiches and hot dogs. I’ve never actually been to Eegees but I had the frozen ice at the event last weekend.

Nado:

Coronado, aka, the party dorm. I lived in Nado freshmen year and it was the best time of my life.

AzSo:

Arizona Sonora, the dorm second to Coronado. I lived in AzSo my freshmen year and it was fun but I wish I lived in Nado.

Highland:

Pretty much where the rest of the dorms are. I lived on Highland my freshmen year but I wish I lived in Nado.

Highland Burrito

The best thing to eat after midnight and the cause of the freshmen fifteen. You can get a burrito at Highland Market which is open 24/7. I gained 15 pounds freshmen year because I had a Highland Burrito every time I was drunk.

Monsoon:

This weather thing that makes it pour rain and flood the streets of Tucson while also maintaining a warm temperature. During monsoon season I usually have to take my shoes off at the cross the street to get to class because it is so flooded.

ZonaZoo:

The best student section in the country where you see people in all sorts of costumes and body paint. ZonaZoo stays the whole game (sometimes).

Dead Day Eve:

U of A’s favorite holiday. The night before Dead Day where students go out and then feel dead the next day, hence the name. I understand why they called it Dead Day, I feel dead right now and I can’t study.

Wilbur and Wilma:

The wildcat mascots that are married. Wilbur and Wilma performed such a cute routine at the game.

Ben’s:

Gentle Ben’s, a restaurant with the best chicken tenders of your life that turns into a bar at night. The place to be on Tuesdays. I waited at Ben’s at 10am and still didn’t get a wristband for tonight.

Bag’s:

Dirtbag’s, the place to be on the weekend. I’ll see you at Bags tonight, right?

Frogs:

Frog & Firkin, often pronounced Frog & Frickin because people pretend that’s what it’s really called. Great restaurant/bar for beer, day games, and just day drinking in general. The game is at 7pm so let’s get to Frogs around 10am.

Bursur:

At the beginning of each semester the bookstore allows you to charge whatever you want to your Arizona account so your parents can pay for it instead. I bursured new Beats and told my parents I got my books.

Old Main:

Where people take their senior pictures. Also, the oldest building on campus. I want a picture in the fountain at Old Main before I graduate.

ASU:

The enemy. ASU sucks.

University of Arizona:

The best school in the nation.People who don’t go there: I wish I went to the University of Arizona. People who do go there: Going to the University of Arizona was the best decision I have made in my life.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
