What do we want? Trainer Battles! When do we want them? Now! What do we want? Companions! When do we want ‘em? Now!
Recently there have been some rumors about Pokémon Go and what we can expect form the next update. The last update completely got rid of the tracking system using paw prints as well as geotagging for where they are. There are some accounts that got a trial of the new tracking system that allows users to see the pokéstop nearest to where the wild pokémon is. While trying to build a better app on the user end, Niantic has also increased its reliability in server connection to allow people to use the app without crashing. This brings us to today. Now we are looking ahead and trying to find out what Niantic has planned for the next version of Pokémon.
There have been many rumors in the last few weeks regarding the next update of Pokémon. Rumors many hope to be true. The first rumor that seems to be gaining traction across the internet, and by this point is pretty much confirmed is that you will be able to be have a buddy walking next to you. Just like Ash has his Pikachu walking along side him, you too can have your pokéfriend walk next to you. While your pokémon walks with you, you will receive candies, and XP. It has yet to be released, how many candies and at what frequency you will get them but candy is candy, and candy is good. The exact animation of the Pokémon will be determined by the type and shape of the pokémon. It will appear on your shoulder, or walking beside you, or flying depending on the type.
Below is the rumored features of the pokébuddy system as reported by Otakukart.com:
Pokemon Buddy System is using the same server side distance calculation as the one used for Pokemon Eggs
- Walking your Pokemon Buddy will award you with candy. The amount of candy is yet to be determined.
- You can walk the same Pokemon Buddy multiple times, but there is likely a daily limit for obtained candy
- You can walk with only one Buddy Pokemon at a time
- There are various looks of Buddy Pokemon
- Medium size
- Big size
- Flying next to you
- Rests on your shoulder
Since Niantic released the pokémon stop based radar, it is a safe assumption to say that they will push it out to everyone in the next update. In addition to these updates one thing trainers want to see is the ability to live battle each other and gain experience. If Pokémon Go continues to give next to no experience points when battling at a gym, it makes sense that they should come out with a player v player aspect of the game where trainers can gain the several million XP they need to level up.
