Racism being effectively used time after time
From Hitler segregating Jews
To “being black is a crime”
Institutional Discrimination
The world has built a cage
Placing every Ethnic group into a category they can’t change
Jews were to be put to shame
Was the Holocaust’s intentions
Locked away and killed
For being a certain ethnicity
The Genocide created monsters
And no one seemed to see their faults
“Blonde hair and blue eyes”
Circled through their only thoughts
Prejudice ways made minority groups
Singled out and treated wrong
Because the skin you were born into
Discrimination has grown on our nation
It is still used everyday
Stereotyped that because you’re black
You’ll probably steal, they put their jewelry away
They claim we’re so different
Just look at our skin
But it’s all a cultural assimilation
When we look through time
There’s a “sorry” here and there
But what does that really mean?
No reparations for killing harmless souls
Just an addition to God’s everlasting wings
Time has gone on, its 2018
Who’s still racist?
They ask like that’s just last year’s theme
Still brutally beaten
And still not protected by our own
Hands up, don’t shoot
Still wiping tears for the ones who are gone
So many ask, “what are you complaining for?”
“You’re free,”
“You’re alive,”
but somehow, we still end up fighting for our lives
Imagine that.
