Thanksgiving is fast approaching and it's time to come up with a menu. But what if you want to change things up? Here are four unusual thanksgiving dishes that will make you your dinner unforgettable.
1. Ham and Banana Casserole
It sounds like one of those horrible recipes from the 50s, but Foodie and Chow.com contributor Amy Wisniewski assures readers this is the ultimate Thanksgiving meal. It looks like a cake but it has layers of stuffing and ground turkey mixed with instant oatmeal, “frosted” with mashed potatoes and sweet potatoes and topped with lightly browned mini marshmallows. I’m not sure about the marshmallows, but it doesn’t sound too bad.
3. Scalloped Oysters
Seafood is not the first food you think of when describing Thanksgiving, but if you want to get really fancy this year, why not try making Martha Stewart's Scalloped Oysters recipe. Looks pretty simple, but make sure your guests aren't allergic.
4. Thanksgiving Pizza
Pizza is basically America's staple food so why not include it in this holiday. Sue and Chel from We-are-not-Martha.com made an incredible pizza topped with thanksgiving favorites -- cranberry chutney, turkey, and gorgonzola cheese -- but also gave it a twist. At the center of it all, is an apple pie. Bless these two girls.
Have fun and enjoy Thanksgiving with your loved ones and remember to check with your guests for allergies before attempting any of these.
