7 Of The Most Unrealistic Things In TV Shows

Why doesn't anyone on TV ever actually eat a full meal? I have so many questions.

7 Of The Most Unrealistic Things In TV Shows

In This Article:

TV shows aren't supposed to be realistic. If they were, no one would watch them because they would be boring. Plus, people watch TV to escape from their lives and watching something that is basically just their lives on a screen - not appealing. But sometimes, things are just TOO unrealistic.

I can get behind the never-ending drama. That's what makes the show interesting. I can get behind all the love stories and the secrets and all that good stuff. That's all part of the fun. It's the little things that make the characters and the show seem too fake. There are so many mundane things that characters do on tv that normal people never do that really just grinds my gears.

1. Their morning routines

Have you ever noticed that whenever characters are getting ready in the morning, whether it be for school or work, they're never in a hurry? They can lounge around and have these long, deep talks. They can sit around, drink coffee, and read every single word in the newspaper. It's like time doesn't exist for them, or maybe they have special privileges and can show up to work/school anytime they want.

2. So. Much. Uneaten. Food.

Have you ever seen your favorite character start and finish a meal? I'm gonna guess that your answer is no. No one ever finishes a meal on TV. They always make so much food, take took bites of it, and then just walk away! First of all, I wish I had that kind of constraint when it comes to eating. And, secondly, how are they just okay with wasting all that food?!?

3. Rude phone etiquette

People in TV don't end phone conversations with words, they just hang up. There's no "bye" or "talk to you later" or "love you." The conversation just abruptly ends with someone just ending the call. How do they just magically know the conversation was over? What if person A wanted to say more to person B but can't because person B just rudely hung up of the phone?

4. Using text slang that doesn't actually exist

Whenever TV shows have shown the viewers text messages, they almost are always written out in complete slang. There isn't a single word that is properly written out. Trust me when I say this: no one speaks in complete slang.

5. Everyone looks like an angel while they're sleeping

Every time tv shows a sleeping person, their hair is perfectly styled, clothes are wrinkle-free, and their mouth is closed. I have never seen someone sleep in a perfect position with a perfect appearance. It's all lies

6. No one has that much time to socialize in school

In every high school drama, the characters have all the time in the world to socialize during the day. In between classes, they have the time to sit down at a bench or a table and talk with their friends. They have time to go to the bathroom, reapply their make-up, and gossip. I don't know about anyone else, but I only had three minutes in-between classes and I almost never spent those three minutes doing anything but rushing to get my next class.

7. Everything is clean.....how?

Everything looks like it came straight out of a catalog. There are never dirty dishes in the sink. Couches look like no one has ever sat on them. Tables and counters sparkle. Clothes are never found on the floor. Beds are always made. The list goes on and on. I wonder what it's like to have your life THAT much together.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
