Unpublished Poems

The poems that never made it past my journal.

Anyone who has known me since 4th grade, knows that I have always loved writing poems and short stories. 4th grade is when I joined my first "Poetry Club" and fell in love with it and the way words could be manipulated to form breathtaking stanzas. Though I haven't written a lot of poems in the past year, I still have several favorites from the past 2-3 years that I have yet to share. I know they're all kind of dark and mysterious, but that has always been my style of writing.

Here are some of my favorites that I have written in the past few years and their back stories.

Unknown

The clouds form darkly

Roars echo overhead

The raindrops storm

Tears fall from the dead

The back story on "Unknown": I've never really wanted to name this poem. I could never really figure out a name for it, so I've always kept it as an unnamed poem. I wrote this one in 8th or 9th grade when I was taking a standardized test (obviously working and focusing on the test) and haven't ever let it go and have had it memorized since then.

Drops

She was a rain
Not a storm
But what brewed inside
Was a soft rain
Softly letting out sorrows
When no one expected it
Or were around to witness it
Beautiful in her own
Tragedy.

The back story on "Drops": I think I was in 10th grade when I wrote this one. A lot of my poems are based on rainy days and strong emotions that are felt on some of these days, which is the case with this one.

Rivers

And as the salt water trickles down your face
Cutting rivers through the sand
The salty taste taints your lips
With a taste of the past
The waves echo and crash into your
Mind
I cling onto the memories
The ones you let
Drift
Because you are the sea
And I am the sand

The back story on "Rivers": This is probably my favorite poem that I've ever written, or at least in the top 3. I don't really know what I was aiming for with it, but I love it more and more everytime that I read it.

Moonlighter

He belonged to the stars
But also the darkness
Only the moon would shine for
Him
But the moon
Was my identity
I would shine through the night just
To
See his soul
But he was a star
In the world of darkness.

The back story on "Moonlighter": I think I wrote this in 12th grade. Probably had something to do with my obsession with science.

Our Broken Language

My thoughts are
Clamored in a lost
Noise
With your beating heart
Becoming repeating
Lyrics
In my head
The way your words
Leave your mouth in
A breathy matter
Your laugh catches on your
Lips
Leaving the unspoken
Words on your tongue.

The back story on "Our Broken Language": Again I wrote this in 12th grade, but don't really know why. This type of writing was always a common theme that we wrote about in my writing classes (Love, heartbreak, loss).

So there you have it, a look at some of the poems that I have let very few people read. Be sure to let me know which ones you like best and be prepared for a part 2 soon!

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.

From sea to shining sea, the United States was uniquely positioned for an incredible Aurora Borealis display on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2024, going into Friday, Oct. 11.

It was the second time this year after an historic geomagnetic storm in May 2024. Those Northern Lights were visible in Europe and North America, just like this latest rendition.

To My Loving Boyfriend,

  • Thank you for all that you do for me
  • Thank you for working through disagreements with me
  • Thank you for always supporting me
  • I appreciate you more than words can express
  • You have helped me grow and become a better person
  • I can't wait to see where life takes us next
  • I promise to cherish every moment with you
  • Thank you for being my best friend and confidante
  • I love you and everything you do

To start off, here's something I don't say nearly enough: thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You do so much for me that I can't even put into words how much I appreciate everything you do - and have done - for me over the course of our relationship so far. While every couple has their fair share of tiffs and disagreements, thank you for getting through all of them with me and making us a better couple at the other end. With any argument, we don't just throw in the towel and say we're done, but we work towards a solution that puts us in a greater place each day. Thank you for always working with me and never giving up on us.

11 Signs You Grew Up In Hauppauge, NY

Because no one ever really leaves.

Ah, yes, good old Hauppauge. We are that town in the dead center of Long Island that barely anyone knows how to pronounce unless they're from the town itself or live in a nearby area. Hauppauge is home to people of all kinds. We always have new families joining the community but honestly, the majority of the town is filled with people who never leave (high school alumni) and elders who have raised their kids here. Around the town, there are some just some landmarks and places that only the people of Hauppauge will ever understand the importance or even the annoyance of.
