Unpopular Opinion: Drake Could Have Done Better

If that’s Drake’s view, I can do without it.

Unpopular Opinion: Drake Could Have Done Better
Genius

A few weeks ago, Drake dropped his highly anticipated fourth album "Views." Apple Music users were the first listeners to the new album. As an android users I had to wait a week to listen to the album. Considering Drake took almost three years on the album, I could have waited longer if that meant the album would have been better.

My dislike for "Views" is hard for me to admit because I am a huge Drake fan. Even though I am a fan, I am not the type of fan to accept any and everything that my favorite artist produces. In fact, as a fan I think I am hard on my favorite artists. Because I am a huge Drake fan, I wanted to like "Views." I wanted to brag about how much I have listened to it and what my favorite song is. The thing is, I’m not impressed by the album. I have heard better music this year and I would rather listen to other albums than listen to "Views."

My overall thought about the album is that it is forgettable. The only thing I can really tell about the album is that Rihanna is a feature. I waited patiently throughout the album to get to the Rihanna song and "One Dance." That’s a lot of music that’s just playing in the background. I forget that I am even listening to the album until "One Dance" or "Too Good" comes on.

To have worked on the album for three years I expected more. "Nothing Was the Same" was such a great album, Drake’s best. Swizz Beats said a few weeks ago that he thinks Drake is regressing.

I disagreed with him before listening to "Views," because I have witnessed Drake’s growth from "So Far Gone" to "Take Care" to "Nothing Was the Same."

After listening to "Views," I still disagreed with Swizz; however, I will say that Drake is not growing. "Views" has no growth and no regression. If anything it is an album filled with something that did not make it to "Nothing Was the Same" because the songs were not good enough.

I do not hate the album, but it is not my favorite Drake album. I thought Drake would have done more lyrically. I thought that since there are twenty songs it would be a better opportunity for the album to be great, but it just ended up being too long. I thought that the overall album would flow between fast pace to slow pace beats. The monotone of the album pushes me away from listening to the album at certain times.

Drake fans, do not kill me for saying what some of you are thinking. "Views" could have been better. I’m disappointed in Drake, but I am still a fan.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
