Opinions are what make the world go around. Without them, there would be nothing interesting to discuss at the dinner table or at a family reunion. However, there are some unpopular opinions, and I’m here to let you know it’s alright! You need to stand up for what you believe in no matter how odd it may be. To help embrace your different thoughts, I’ve compiled a list of my unpopular opinions:
I’m all for putting outfits on your dog
It isn’t always tacky! I have a dog who likes to be constantly cuddled and swaddled. Sometimes it’s hard to accommodate to his needs when I’m working. If he enjoys being in a little grey sweater, then I have no right to take that joy away from him.
Celebrating fall and Halloween starts September 1st
September is about going back to school, and that is a fall event. You buy fall clothing, you participate in fall sports, and that’s when the fall drinks come out at Starbucks. You aren’t basic just because you happen to like a specialty drink that only comes around once a year. You want to savor your times with your pumpkin spice, and that’s totally understandable! You sip your PSL and wear your Ugg boots with pride!
On that note, celebrating the Christmas season starts November 1st
I love Thanksgiving; it’s my favorite holiday! However there are no Thanksgiving carols to be sung. You don’t get off for a whole week. Just like the specialties of fall, if I want to put up my tree on November 1st and start jamming to my Christmas playlist, then I’m going to. You can continue being a Christmas grinch all you want. Plus I have more time to celebrate the festive season, so who is the real winner?
Team Jacob
Edward was good for Bella, but Jacob was hot…
Shrek is the best love story of all time
A guy who falls for a girl because of her personality and not her looks. Sure, she’s pretty at first, but as an ogre, Shrek still loves her just the same. On the other hand, Fiona treats him the same way. He spends the first half of the movie complaining that no one will love him, and yet Fiona does. He isn’t a handsome prince, but she laughs at his jokes and loves being in his company. If that isn’t true love, then I don’t know what is.
I don’t hate the prequels for Star Wars
They aren’t as good as the original, but they give us answers, don’t they? I don’t think the first three were the main focus of the series anyway, otherwise they would have started with Episode 1. Luke and Leia and all our friends from the original make the series. The first three episodes serve as backstory which is nice to have and see connections.
Pickles are the most disgusting food on the planet
If a pickle touches my food, I want nothing to do with it. It’s just a salty cucumber. Cucumbers are sweet, and adding salt ruins them!
Baseball is better than football
Think about it: with football, you’re only watching around 12 minutes of a game. The rest of the time is replays, commercials, and overviews. Plus the plays only last a few seconds. Baseball is constantly moving. There are commercials and replays, but when they are in the midst of the action, that’s what the focus remains on. Plus, the baseball pants make everything better.
Cats aren’t that bad
I’m not a dog or cat person. I’m an animal person. You may have to take some extra time to get on a cat’s good side, but I’ve never met one that didn’t just want to play or snuggle. People say they’re mean, but they’re biting you for a reason. Just watch how you handle yourself around cats, and you’ll see a difference.
Ranch isn’t that great
I used to be a Ranch enthusiast. I’d put it on everything I ate. Now, I don’t see what the huge hype is. It’s good, but it isn’t the best thing to put on food when things like Ketchup or Mild Sauce exist.
Taylor Swift scares me
Don’t get me wrong. Her music is AMAZING. You can see me jamming to Shake it Off at any red light. She just seems powerful. She can sue you for copyright, and she won’t even let her songs be available on Spotify. She has some hardcore fans, and it’s kind of scary how most will defend her in a second. She is a queen, but maybe she has a bit too much power….
If we can learn to embrace our differences, we can keep the world spinning and have topics to discuss at the next big social event!
